I wrote my first short hub about internet marketing. The hub is basically pointing people at the realization that internet marketing is more than affiliate links. I am in the process of populating a free website concerning internet marketing. The site isn't monetized I'm just wanting to educate people. If I copy some of the information from my site it would be considered duplicate content.
Where is the balance for getting people great information yet not duplicating content from great sources?
The balance is called "rewriting". The lost art of paraphrasing.
Remember back in primary school, when you would look in the encyclopedia, and then write a project "in your own words"?
Like that.

P.S. A neat tool to help with that is dupecop.com - you can paste in the original and your rewrite, and hit "compare", and it tells you what percentage is different from one to the other.
Ok, thanks for this link, Jenny. I'll give a try.

yes, your right, I should have thought that question through a little better. I should have taken a little additional time to look through some other forum postings that were similar. Note to self: think before you post silly questions.
It looks like a great tool, thank you for that!

I would like advice on the following. I uploaded a new hub 'Lost In The Ocean,' which I have now deleted. It stated duplicate content. I spend a lot of time on this hub, rewriting it. However, it was refused for publishing due to duplicate content. The only duplicate content in this hub, was the...

I asked a question on a post that I felt like investigating on my own. It was regarding Google Chrome extensions and whether or not anyone had ever tried any extensions that could check for copied content. I just found one I wanted to share with all Chrome users. It is called PlagSpotter Duplicate...

I am doing a 20 "such and such" quotes about "such and such" hub. I even went back in after they marked it duplicate and made sure 400 of the words are my words, even though I know people googling it aren't going to want to read my words and are instead just going to be coming...

I notice several disgruntled Hubbers on Eric's new Hub, saying they're leaving HubPages because of the duplicate content flags. They seem to be misunderstanding what the dup content flag is all about - either they think they're being penalized, or that the flag means they have to delete the Hub.I...

I published my 100 ways to make money online hub a few months ago using the same article i posted on Bukisa so I received a duplicate content penalty. Since then I have completely changed all the information. Hubpages no longer labels my hub duplicate content but my hub score remains the same since...

I recently published an article that was flagged as duplicate content and removed. How do I go about trying to figure out what portion is duplicated? It's a long article. Is it possible because I copied a portion of the previous article I wrote as a review of information that it was flagged?...
