I have missed you, too. Had a personal dilemma. Back now, reaking havoc. Would you expect any less?

Is this statement correct? If yes or no, why yes or no? smile

Statement: "Your Life Does NOT Have Meaning..."

Anything showing up on this thread I may use on my blog. But there will be no attribution, and more likely than not it will be paraphrased.

            Alrighty. Let's see... smile

"Your life does not have meaning..."

            Is this statement correct?

I think it is both correct and incorrect. Meaning is relative to the person making the judgement. What may be meaningful to one, may not be meaningful to another. It depends on one's criteria.

The concept of meaning implies purpose. In order for there to be purpose, there must be a one who is using it for some sort of purpose. That typically also assumes a God-like entity which has some sort of purpose for our lives. Otherwise, if there is no God-like entity who has power over our lives, then the only one who could actually create some sort of purpose for our own lives is ourselves. In which case, we could arbitrarily create meaning for our lives.

In other words, I don't think meaningfulness is a concrete term. It varies with the mind doing the judging. It is impossible to separate the concept from the one doing the judging. Therefore, the answer to that question will change. And in each case, it would be correct. So yes and no, depending on who asks. For you, my life may or may not have meaning. For me, my life may or may not have meaning. And we would both be correct. Because meaning implies meaning for the person asking the question.

So I reread my article and it made absolutely no sense. It's been a while since I've delved into philosophical mode. However, should you for any reason wish to use anything I just said, I demand attribution, including quotation marks and exact references. Or I will sue you for intellectual property theft. Thank you.

The OP has the word wanderer in it.  If you're trying to figure out where to go with this suspect forum topic, I give you the great Google's take on all this:

wandering  present participle of wan·der (Verb)

      Verb:

Walk or move in a leisurely, casual, or aimless way.

Move slowly away from a fixed point or place: "please don't wander off again".

EDIT:  The OP has the word wandering in it would have been better (and lucid).
