Just so there is no mistake.
Nobody has ever committed suicide because of a troll. But stalkers have indeed driven people to suicide. A troll is a person who leaves spammy comments on your hubs. A stalker is someone who hounds you into fear and a nervous breakdown. The idea that anyone would equate the two is confusing.
Stalking is NOT a laughing matter. I find it extremely offensive that anyone would confuse the two terms. I just read a hub with a comment that I flagged. If I commit suicide, will it be funny? Halarious!
This is the only statement I will make on this forum. I am not following it.
Can you at least post a few examples of the Stalker and troll comments(without names of course)so nobody will make a mistake and become one or the other? Some of us are still learning this hubber type of communication. This is a honest request.
While I appreciate the sentiments you may be getting at here, I think there is really no point in creating a semantic stink about "troll" vs. "stalker" or (totally omitted) "bully" etc.
I'm not sure what well-researched and carefully gathered evidence you have to support the claim that NOBODY has ever committed suicide because of a troll or how the distinctions were made to formulate evidence so carefully separating the various types of incivility (or even why, given the sad circumstance), but I think the point you are getting at probably has import far beyond how we classify the cruel treatment that can drive someone who needs help to such a desperate act. Who cares what we call it? Some people need help, and some people are antagonistic in any variety of forms that can cause problems for someone in need of said help.
YOU ARE so right suicide is not funny.. and anyone who makes light of it is so wrong.... stalking is horrible.. it is a nightmare.I have been stalked it is one of the scariest things I have gone through. I felt so violated...
I can't do much of anythin gwithout getting flagged, no. I am on probation. And I'm close to getting banned from the site completely.
But I'll give you an example of a troll that I had earlier:
"where do you get ideas for your pictures?" "Why did you choose a pen as a picture?" "What's up with the pen picture?"
This was all based upon a hub I published where I used a picture of a pen on a hub about an author. It was this series of comments that made me start moderating my comments so that only I see them first. Tiresome. But not about to make me commit suicide.
Perhaps they were referring to the other forum where you said you were suicidal? The one going on leave for a couple of days? Unfortunately, if one makes a point to follow/stalk/ etc. they will digest each written move you make, which sucks but none the less, the less personal info you give the less personal attacks they can do.
Keep you chin up Flora, fight back with your talents. F*** the rest of the petty actions here. We are here to write and share positive feedback, encourage one another, and I have "read" your current discouragements here, so I really hope I can continue to follow your great hubs, and perhaps you can reply with the attitude "kill with with kindness"
"I am so happy and flattered you liked my pen!" Thanks for commenting!" You Are Awesome" That may just get them annoyed enough to go somewhere else.
I noticed you got rid of your other avatar. I like this one too. The other one made me giggle, though.
"We are here to write and share positive feedback, encourage one another, and I have "read" your current discouragements here, so I really hope I can continue to follow your great hubs, and perhaps you can reply with the attitude "kill with with kindness"
I'm paralyzed with fear. I can't think of any statement I can make, or question I can ask that doesn't make people mad as heil.
Why are there religious and political forums on hubpages. How can you be sweet and nice and kind and share positive feedback in those jungles? I love a good argument that stays above the line of just back and forth name calling and other useless comments. This freedom of expression on hubpages in a good thing. If I abuse it in some way please tell me(or anyone offending you) what you think. Most people here are writers who want to write poems and helpful hints to make money. And some people come on this hub to share their thoughts with some other people that are smart enough to hold their own in a lively debate. It's a great pastime for me. I was drawn to your forum because of the title and I was just hoping for a little clarification. I hope this forum helps you helps you flora. Good luck to you.
It has helped me for sure. Thankyou, Friendlyword. I think Shadesbreath said all I wanted to say very well. I agree that religious and political forums are full of potential opportunities to say things that may get you banned from the forums. I try to stay away from them. I know what it is like to be afraid of posting comments, any comments, and it is just a drain of energy. The day after I posted this thread I got Dad to go online and check to see if I was still on the site or whether my forum thread had been flagged and I had been banned from the site. I was that afraid to check it myself. We had a long conversation and he told me that I must focus my energy elsewhere. If I get banned, I get banned. Don't worry about it. Otherwise I will get nothing done because I'm sitting at my computer all day in a panic waiting to see if anything has been flagged since I last checked . And when I was afraid, I was checking every two hours. Really.

Of course I won't but how would you react to someone who threatens to do this. Someone I know, fairly well, committed suicide this year. He had money worries and I feel really guilty that I did not take up his offer of carpentry work from a flier he put through my letterbox. I didn't know he was in...

Does anyone have a list of words which are banned in Yahoo comments?I have had comments deleted which were quite innocent. For example, if you type the name of one of our former presidents (Dick Nixon), the comment will be deleted because Yahoo has banned the use of Dick as a first name.

I have been told through out the years that suicide was just a call for help or a way to seek attention! I feel that this is a dratic way to call for help!If this is a for sure call does this not show a sign for a death wish anyways and in this call does this not show some mental illness! What...

In which cases would you flag/report someone to Hubpages, or even ask that they be banned? For example, if someone slandered your name, would you flag them? Here is a comment taken from a religious Q&A comment on Hubpages: "Compulsive lying with an inclination towards spreading...
