Do you expect anything else from the intellectually vapid, race-baiting, avaricious leader of the Republican faithful?  Rush Limbaugh is their religion.  What he says is law, and no matter how outrageous his claims, his dittoheads don't stop listening.

LOL.  Defending Trayvon Martin from the smear campaign that has occurred, where conservatives have actually been looking through his Facebook trying to find pictures of him that look menacing, is somehow wrong?

It's amazing.  You defend a paranoid over-zealous neighborhood watchman who stalked a minority because "he looked suspicious."  Zimmerman is the one who initiated the contact, and if he would've actually followed the directions of the 9/11 dispatcher, the killing never would've happened in the first place.

9/11 call.  Zimmerman followed Martin.  I'm amazed at what some conservative hubbers have said here.  Even Zimmerman's public defenders are not claiming Zimmerman is completely innocent.

They all admit he should not have continued to follow Martin.  What they claim is either we 1) don't know enough to say Zimmerman wasn't acting in self-defense 2) or some say Zimmerman was justified in using deadly force to defend himself.

Please get your facts straight.  There can be no reasonable discussion if one side isn't even informed on the basic facts of the case.

I agree sooner28, the facts of this case went to the grave with Martin, and the rest lies with Zimmerman and whatever witness there may or may not be. It is not right that any law would hold in the event of a persuer killing a percieved suspicious character. But until the special prosecutor uncovers the facts, the public figures need to stop inciting violence and racial tension. Our society cannot come out of the dark ages of race inequality as long as people keep on factoring race into the actions of a stupid irresponscible action of one person. The dumb action should be treated as a dumb action by a man against a teenager. Not a dumb action of a white man against a black teenager.

“Im sick of hearing how zimmerman racially profiled Trayvon, how Trayvon was hunted down and chased because he was black, and how zimmerman is a racist.”

You’re a racist when you shoot a CHILD or threaten a CHILD because that Child is Black!  If it was a White CHILD you would call their Parents or the Police.  You don’t kill Children!  You don’t threaten Children.

You wouldn’t even think of beating up somebody’s  White Child in your driveway even if they were flopping around on your car and acting crazy with their gas balloons!  You wouldn’t even think of shooting them or beating them with a stick. You would shake your head and wring your hands; and call thier parents or the police.

THAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SANE PERSON AND A RACIST.

And one of Obama's largest financial contributors (Spike Lee) tweets the address of an innocent family, and almost gets them killed. And nobody in liberal fantacy land will call for a toning down of the rhetoric.

I saw that on the news...didn't you? It was at a meeting of the black caucus in Washington.
But I have yet to see a clip of Santorum's pastor screaming, "If you're not Christian, get out!"...then placing hands on Santy the next minute...I had to hear about that on twitter.

And Spike Lee was ALL over the news. You missed that?
Andhe apologized and also paid for their stay when they had to leave their house.

Kind of hard to "tone it down", when people are associating with a murderer and are demonizing the victim, who was shot in cold blood--everybody knows who did it, and the dude is still walking free.

"Conservative Josh Barro tells his fellow conservatives why they get attacked on racial issues so often:

Why do conservatives catch such heat? It’s probably because there is still so much racism on the Right to go alongside valid arguments on issues relating to race and ethnicity. Conservatives so often get unfairly pounded on race because, so often, conservatives get fairly pounded on race.

And this is the Right’s own fault, because conservatives are not serious about draining the swamp. In recent months, both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have gotten questions at public events that referred to President Obama being a Muslim. Neither candidate corrected the questioner. Santorum later told a reporter that’s “not his job.” PPP polls in Mississippi and Alabama have found that about half of Republican voters believe Obama is a Muslim, and others aren’t sure.

....There has been a clear strategic calculation here among Republican elites. Better to leverage or at least accept the racism of much of the Republican base than try to clean it up....My challenge to conservatives who feel they get a bum rap on race is this. Stand up for yourself and your colleagues when you feel that a criticism is unfair. At the same time, criticize other conservatives who say racist things, cynically tolerate racism in the Republican base, or deny the mere existence of racial issues in America today. The conservative movement desperately needs self-policing on racial issues, if it ever hopes to have credibility on them."

I find it interesting that so many people love to point the finger of blame at conservatives/Republicans on matters of race, as if utilization of the "race card" is the sole domain of those groups. But, anything coming close to objective observation will clearly demonstrate that in practically any situation, it is the liberal/leftist/socialist groups who, failing to develope logical, cogent arguments will pull that old chestnut out of the hat and begin chanting racist.  Is Rush Limbaugh attempting to instigate a race war? no.  Is he explaining the truth about certain situations? Yes. Truth is an inconvenient element for some groups. For example--the recent tragedy in Florida. The leftist/liberal media are attempting to portray this incident as a racist event, as in to the total exclusion of any and all other possible explanations for his actions, Zimmerman intentionally decided to shoot the young man simply because he was Black. Anyone who would believe that is truly delusional. But, again is Rush trying to start a race war? No.  If one does begin, it will be because of people like Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, et al
who see a situation and in any manner possible, turn it into a race based event. Thats not Rush's fault.

The man isn't even FULL CAUCASION for cryin-out-loud, has anyone not picked up on that yet? It's a tradgedy that young boy was shot by this imbecile, but Zim done it. Why does it have to turn into a discussion of how  the Anglo- Saxon race is bent on BEATING DOWN THE BLACK MAN AND THE POOR? I'll tell you why, because it keeps the hooks in the emotions of those minorities so the affluent liberals like Reed, Pelosi,Obama,Waters,Jackson, and  the media can help agitate,  then seize upon the minorities angst, in a time when all of their failed socialist agenda's have lost traction. Trevon Martin was dead for a week before the right source happened upon the story, and realized the golden opportunity. 40 blacks are murdered by other blacks every week in Chicago alone (look it up). Where is the media spotlight in Chitown?

I will have to search for him...because you will recognize. He is the one who brought this out, because he knew it would just be another racist murder swept under the rug.

          Sorry!!--wrong guy:

"When Kevin Cunningham read about the killing of teenager Trayvon Martin early this month, he turned to a platform he was just starting to experiment with – social media – to add his voice to the few that were expressing outrage about a Florida police department’s handling of the case. Little did he know when he started an online petition demanding that authorities prosecute the shooter, that it would garner more than 2 million signatures and help draw international attention to the 17-year-old’s shooting death on Feb. 26.

“I decided to take the skills that I’ve been working on … and apply them to the situation and see how well it would work out, and it just went crazy on me,” said Cunningham, 31, of Washington, D.C., who created the petition on the change.org website on March 8. Cunningham, a red-head who describes himself as the “super Irish” son of activist parents, said he learned about the Martin case when he read a story posted on a listserv for Men of Howard, an informal, secretive fraternity that he joined while attending the historically black Howard University as a law student.

When he suggested starting an online appeal calling for prosecution of the shooter, neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, the proposal was met with both support and skepticism from other subscribers. “At Howard, they tell us as soon as you get there, ‘If you’re going to be a lawyer, you’re either a social engineer or a parasite on the society.’ … that’s how I think about life … is to be a social engineer, and that’s what my parents were always trying to be,” he said. When Cunningham launched the appeal, others in the fraternity posted it to their social networks. Later, current students and other alumni shared it, too.

On the first day, Cunningham believes the petition got 100 signatures. Then it quickly reached the 1,000 mark as it spread to Florida, California and beyond. Cunningham said he noticed that some of the singers identified themselves as family members or friends of Martin. “You could tell there was a lot of people who knew him and liked him,” he said. “It definitely had an impact on me … it made me feel very good about what I had done, what we had done.” Zimmerman has admitted to shooting Martin. His representatives have asserted he acted in self-defense, but the incident has sparked outrage in many quarters because Martin was unarmed and, according to critics of police handling of the case, may have been targeted because he was black.

“I thought that this could be a similar situation where the death of the one person could be the thing that triggers us to re-look at our society,” Cunningham said. “I think we need to revolutionize the justice system, for sure, and maybe our culture as well.” Asked whether he thought people might be surprised to learn that a white man was responsible for the petition demanding justice for a black teenager he had never met, Cunningham said he didn’t “believe in black and white.”

“The only race I believe in is the human race,” he said."

What his racist and partisan comments reflect on is that the right has, to put it mildly, totally lost it. Their genuine  arguments are being drowned out by racism, close-mindedness, and flat-out ridiculous crap(see gop2012). The right's views could be very valuable in preventing big gov from getting too big and dealing with the economic crisis, but birthers? "Obama is a Muslim?" Pull it together!

Even most dignified black Americans agree the race card proponents hurt matters of racial equality, more than help, with each time the old card is pulled. Find some real substance to debate the issues on, and leave that old card for the simple minds, who use it in their quest for a big government, Union corrupted, socialist nanny state.

Which leads to a vicious cycle. There are other ways to bring people out of poverty. I can think of two off the top of my head.

1 - Use the entitlement money to pay wages. Allow small businesses that can't grow because they can't afford more employees to hire these people, having the entitlement money given to the employee as a wage, thereby growing the business, keeping the poverty person in the same amount of money, and giving them a job they can learn and grow in.

2 - Allow government to hire these people in jobs that are already created, thus keeping government open longer and using the same money to pay the wage as was used in the entitlement. Everybody wins.

Not only the current administration, but no government should be in the business of business. The private sector will properly vet out a business venture on it's own merits. If it's a sought after commodity, the market will buy it. If not it will sink. It is not a good practice for government to bankroll a business venture with taxpayer dollars. There's alot of Green Technology that american companies are years from being able to compete in. Solindra could not compete with the cheaper Chinese manufacturing of solar panels, thus the taxpayers lost 500 billion in gov.loan guarantee's. It is our governments role to place trade tarrifs on countries like China to close the gap on prices, made possible because they pay their workforce 2.00 an hour to produce high tech products.

IMO, Obama is a decent man. He tries very hard to see both sides of every issue and this often makes him appear to have seized upon an issue late. If a president's eyes are opened to an issue, he should look into it. That's what makes a good president. He shouldn't just always take the side of his party.

For all of you people bashing Rush and the Right leaning Americans, why do you care? Why does he upset you so much? Why are you listening to him? Why do you hate him so much? We have a lot of people on the left spewing just as much crap as any of the people on the right do. The reason you hate Rush and his company so much is that they carry the largest audience. Get over it. Do you realize that the left media keeps Rush and people like him in business by stirring up hate against him. If the left media were to go silent on Rush, his popularity would fade away. The controversy is what keeps him alive. So, to all you Rush haters, keep it up. Rush loves you all for making him the most popular man on radio.

You are right. He would still be popular even if the left bowed out. Of course, we know that many people stir up controversy just to get popular and stay popular. There are old relics on the left that always inject themselves into the limelight when the right cause pops up. They don't go after issues to promote civility. They always exploit controversy to inflate their own popularity. This is a prime example. If the left had stayed silent about Rush's remarks, there would have been no controversy. None. Rush was just being Rush. The left created the controversy by trying to dethrone the king.

Glen Beck went private so he could say whatever he wanted without liberal interference. It's a damn shame when liberals constantly attack conservatives to silence them, but conservatives allow liberals to say whatever they want.  Have you noticed that liberal radio is on it's last leg? If it weren't for government assistance, liberal radio would have died years ago. Very few people listen to them. Back to Beck. He is still going strong. What's even funnier is that now the liberal watchdogs who tried to silence him PAY MONEY to hear what he has to say. They still listen to his every word. Why? What could he be saying that is so darn interesting or important? Again, liberals helped make him the sensation that he is. Obviously, liberals see him as a threat, which means he is onto something. If he weren't a threat, they wouldn't give him a second thought. Why are you so afraid of Beck and Limbaugh? Maybe because they are right and you all know it? Or maybe, they say what you wish you could, but you don't have the backbone.

Much of this division comes from how people are programmed to see the world — generally, Democrats tend to be more "live and let live," trusting and prudent, while Republicans seem to be more narrow of view, mistrustful and heedless of their own zealotry and compulsions to "win" at any cost.

The Dems gave Bush carte blanche power after 9/11 and then he and his cronies dismantled financial regulation, choked off the tax system, went to war with Iraq, rigged the Supreme Court and countless other cuts to the social fabric of this country.  The Democrats are responsible for allowing it to happen of course.

Meanwhile a complacent America is distracted by big corporate media the same way the Romans went to the Coliseum to forget their troubles. Fox News, Limbaugh, et al are just fat verbal gladiators for the moneyed-thugs  who rule behind the scenes (Murdoch & The Kochs).

"60 Minutes did a report on this several years ago. There was a particular town in Louisiana that did this so often they were becoming one of the richest police depts in the state. So much so that officers took ski vacations to very expensive resorts. To Hawaii and even overseas. All part of being "rewarded" for their hard work.

The report showed that none of the people were guilty of anything. The cops stole literally hundreds of thousands of dollars claiming YOU had to prove it wasn't the proceeds from drug deals. They took dozens of  very expensive cars and you had to prove they had not been used for drug runs. One couple had just bought a Lincoln Town car from a police auction and it HAD been used when it was seized in Florida with compartments. The cops stole it even though they showed they had purchased the car from another cop outfit just the day before.

And as said they know the people simply cannot afford to go back and forth and as such get to steal millions and millions of dollars from innocent people.

You can thank one of the most corrupt Supreme Courts in history for allowing this. The courts are crazy lately. They give more rights to corporations than people. They rule against people in fights with corporations 99 percent of the time. They give so much power to cops and law enforcement that the 4th Amendment has practically no meaning at all.

ALL because of this insane war against American citizens usually called the war on drugs. Cops will NEVER admit to wrong doing. It happens so rarely that the offense has to be one even they can't ignore and that is as rare as hens teeth and only if their is video, eye witnesses and probably a priest watching.

We MUST make sure we get rid of these  anti constitutional Supreme Court Justices also known as conservative judges and start putting in Justices who actually believe in the Constitution also known as liberal Justices."

So it was this week when the solicitor general and several justices tried to make the obvious point that one reason so many Americans lack health insurance is that the market is inherently unlike any other in that we don’t deny medical care to sick people who can’t pay for it.
It is from this anomaly that springs the “individual mandate,” a requirement that all citizens buy health insurance, to prevent them from becoming free-riders on a system paid for by others."

I don't understand the point here. That's exactly the reason we're having this imposed. So the system levels out instead of having the insurers pay for insured and uninsured by virtue of higher prices.

Of course, that's not exactly the reason so many don't have it. Some don't want it, some can't afford it but for those who do want it and can't afford it, it's because prices are high due to free medical services for uninsured. That's not exactly true either. It's not free to all uninsured. But some who are billed don't pay those bills and some are not billed at all, like illegals who give birth here.

This issue is a catch 22, IMO.

I personally don't think we can ever get out of racism until we admit it exists, is going on, and is a major factor in a lot of things in America.

I really don't think Zimmerman would have followed him if he was a white kid walking home. Hoodie or not.

And the fact that we allow GUNS willy-nilly in the hands of anybody scares me more than all the 2012 prophecies put together.

He asked Martin, "What are you doing here?"....who the H is he? And--if he called him a c**n......case closed. You don't say that without hate in your heart for black people.

Not given the history here....and then one wonders, where did the racism come from? My grandson was called N plenty of times by these 2 kids. And my thought was: they get it from their parents.

And my son was beat in the head by a black kid when he was 8 years old...on the school bus, with the driver not doing a d*mn thing about it.

Where did that 12 year old boy get his violent tendencies from????

And no, my son wasn't racist--most of his friends were black.

See--it goes both ways, LMC.  Your refusal to let go of this, and constantly wanting to stir things up is just as bad as the folks you say are being racist.

Everyone knows that racism existed, and has for a long time.  Everyone KNOWS that it still exists at times. But it is NOT present in EVERY crime against a black person who was killed by a non-black--so why don't you and people like you stop making it out to be like that?

You are just as guilty of spreading the hate.

      1. lovemychris profile image77

I'm talking about this case. I think this kid was killed because he was black. And I think that STINKS.

Is that ok for me to think that?? Do I have to sit down and shut up to suit you?
You are the ones trying to deflect from the "alleged" racism in this case.

And this is why I bring up the parents.....

Suppose Zimmerman got his "alleged" racism from his parents? Well, who are his parents?

        One is a judge.
Now, imagine that you are a black kid who comes in front of him and he already has a bad opinion of you?
What if you are a parent sitting there scared to death for the life of your kid because you know the one making the decision already has a bad opinion of your kid.

THIS is what I'm talking about here....and you all want to act like it's no big deal.

We need a consciousness change. That is what I am getting at.

I am trying to spread open your eye and lets stop allowing this to go on.

And just suppose you went to the school about your son, and they did nothing about it?
And the principal says--well, what did your son do to spur it on?  You see? This is what Zimmerman and his supporters are trying to do IMO.....They are telling us--Trayvon deserved to be shot.

        1. TamCor profile image82
TamCorposted 12 years agoin reply to this

No, it isn't "just" this case...you always jump all over this type of thing, no matter how outlandish it really is.  smile

Now you're really stretching. How convoluted are you going to make this case?  Now you're talking about how Zimmerman's parents are racist...what, his grandparents, too? His brothers, sisters, children?

Ironically, that is exactly what happened when we went to visit the principal--they tried to blame our son, who was 4 years younger and half the other kids' size, of inciting this kid, causing him to beat him over the head.

So, see--we have been the victim of reverse racism, right?  That's the problem these days--too many jump on the "This is racism" bandwagon, going to extremes the other way.  How does that help calm the fires of the past?

I haven't seen anywhere where it was said that Trayvon deserved to be shot.

We need a consciousness change, that's true.  But not just from the supposed racists.

Umm, TamCor, have you ever considered that Zimmerman's papa could be   an 'alleged' racist?  "Nut doesn't fall far from the tree", and all that.

"Where did that 12 year old boy get his violent tendencies from????

And no, my son wasn't racist--most of his friends were black."

        Now if that tale/phrase isn't one every one has'nt head before, I'll be a rat's a**!
C'mon, TC.  YOU'VE even heard THAT before, but if it is true that your son's friends were mostly afro-american, then I'll apologize.  I will.

"We need a consciousness change", that's for certain, and I am thinking it should begin with folks like you.  IMO, of course.

My son and daughter were two of only a handful of white kids on that school bus--the rest of the kids were black.  But only one of those kids caused a problem with my son.  I don't lie, lorlie.  All three of my kids had many black kids as their friends, and never had any problems getting along with them.

I refuse to believe that every kid is going to be just like his parents.  Do your kids feel the same way about life, and have the same attitudes as you about everything?  My three sure don't.

I don't blame the parents of the kid who beat my son, and I never did. I was just trying to prove a point to LMC that racism CAN go both ways.

Well then, I do owe you an apology. I am sorry for implying that you lied.  That was not really my intention toward you, but for many.
I have one son who couldn't be more different than I.  He's hyper, I'm pretty calm-most of the time. lol  This question about kids being like their parents seems nutz to me since my son and I qualify for the MOST different!

I hope that lmc knows racism goes both ways-I'm actually certain he does.

            Anyway, again, I apologize, TamCor,
            Laurel

"This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something," Zimmerman told the dispatcher. "It's raining, and he's just walking around looking about." The man tried to explain where he was. "Now he's coming towards me. He's got his hand in his waistband. And he's a black male...Something's wrong with him. Yup, he's coming to check me out. He's got something in his hands. I don't know what his deal is...These a**holes, they always get away."

Who are these a$$holes, who always get away? black males? I think that is pretty clear.
AND he's a black male....so? does that mean something special?

If you can't see the racism, you just never will.

And your son unfortunately got a little taste of what black people go through ever day of the week.

We should work to stop ALL of it, but how can we, when people refuse to even admit it exists on the level that it does?

    1. TamCor profile image82
TamCorposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Or that it DOESN'T exist on the level some believe it does...I never denied that it exists still--in some narrow-minded people, but it's not as prevalent as you make it sound, IMO. And yes, I do live around black people, and we all get along very well, with no undercurrents at all.

I see a lot of the reverse-racism, and that is wrong, too, but that seems to be a lot more "accepted" these days.

Unfortunately, neither will probably ever go completely away, and that's the sad part, for all of us.

But, in America--it's institutionalized against black people.

And I will add...poor people too, of all colors.

Yeah, life is unfair and nobody ever told us it would be. When the human race is broken down to its simplest elements, we are a food chain just like any other creatures. The strongest survive and no matter what attempt is made to change the natural order of nature...it will ALWAYS revert back to its natural rythm. We can catch a shark and place it on a vegan diet for years and when you put a baby seal in with him...guess whats going to happen. There's been poor on the planet for thousands of years. We will always have sick, elderly, handicapped, mentally ill people that will always be a drain on human resources. When the plain lazy, criminals and free loaders are added to that, well, our chances of the Age of Aquarius don't look too promising for our flower chidren. Some people are more compassionate than others, but the majority of people care about feeding their own kids more than doling out to people who are quite capable of gainful employment. I came from dirt floor poor, so when I say it can be overcome, I speak from experience. America has more opportunities for the poor to raise themselves up than any other nation on earth. We can rail of the injustice of our society keeping the poor down, but in the end, the keys are in the car, all they have to do is drive. We have gone the way of most civilized societies, and created a system of entitlement that has trapped generations of minorities as well as caucasions. Poor cannot qualify for benifits if they are married, so we have poor single mothers and fathers, of ALL RACES.This is how the family structure was destoyed by entitlements. If a person gets a shot at gainful employment while on welfare,  as soon as they begin earning an income, medicaid is cut off to the children along with foodstamps and their check. So then the incentive to pull oneself out of entitlements is taken away. Now a culture has been created who's members are bitter and loathsome of society as a whole. For them to have the things they see the rest of society posess, they either feel entitled to take it forcefully or own them through the illegal sale of drugs. Our hippy era parents wanted a fair and equal society where every kid should play on the team regardless of athletic ability, even if it meant taking a kid out of the game who was a natural athlete, because that was fair. They believed that we should be able to live a happy go lucky life, loving everyone and everything, and nobody should speak to us in an unplesant way as to hurt our tender feelings, now we are hard pressed to find and retain people in the workforce because people wear their feeling on their sleeve, and can no longer accept directions and criticism, because that is UNFAIR. Many corporations  today must provide activities,  video games and  nap times to this offspring of the 70's culture of peace love and rock-n-roll. And we are expected to compete against China,Japan,India,Germany,France where their culture is shamful of academic failure, to have sloth in their workplace is a discrace not only upon them, but their family. We have created a system that breeds poverty, crime, laziness, lack of morals, destruction of the family unit. Problems that will never be solved with handouts. The handouts are unsustainable and has crumbled many a socialist government, it's right in the history books. And when our republic is swallowed up by a democratic/socialist ideology, we won't have anything to OCCUPY.
