   Are you holding up on publishing hubs because of the latest wave of article thefts?

      Personally, I'm going to carry on. If more of my articles get stolen, then I've got a DMCA saved, so I'll just enter the relevant information and send it off.

      No. I have copyrights on my hubs and use copyscape, myfreecopyright.com and our work is date stamped with HP every time we publish a hub. I will not allow anyone to stop me from doing what I love to do and this is write.
      
      I found several of mine on Bigezine and they linked back to my articles on HubPages. With notation on who they belonged too. I believe we should find out exactly what type of site it really is;because it appears to be a directory before we come to a screeching halt.
      
      I write on other sites to and they have also ran into the same issues. Never stop writing because people thieves. It will eventually catch up with them and all of the work will be taken down.

         I believe you're absolutely correct in assuming this and just because there are copyright thieves out there, it should not let any of us here on hubpages prevent us from doing what we love as you said-writing. So let our pens continue to flow freely regardless of those others who do not have enough savvy, or ambition to publish their own work.

      Not me. I continue to write. Quite a few of my articles are on that "other" site and don't link to my article, by the way.
      
      Over the many years I have been writing online, my material has been stolen. Usually I don't pursue it, however, nowadays, I pursue it.
      
      I have a stash of articles in a private forum, open to only a few select members. These articles are published, but can not be seen by Google, so they don't create conflict. However, I pulled one out of there the other day and published here and got a duplicate flag. Come to find out, one of the select members of the forum published my article elsewhere, under his name. As you can imagine, he is no longer a select member, lol.
      
      I will continue to publish here and elsewhere, as it is something I enjoy. As for earnings, I reached the milestone in the amount of the first payout, but it will not be for one or two months, the way that I understand it, before I will get the actual payment.

   Absolutely N-O-T!!!  Last week, I received my first payout, and I hope my traffic continues to rise.  In any type of writing, your work can be stolen.  That's one of the risks you take as a writer.  I continue to write for HubPages and always look forward to publishing an article or two each week.  I also work on my novel and freelance.  If your work is stolen, you'll deal with it.  Or you won't.  True writers keep writing--no matter what!

   Thank you, UnnamedHarald!  It took 9 months, and I was surprised (as well as pleased) to get an email from HubPages.  When it comes to earning these online payouts, I think it would have been easier just to give birth to a 14-lb. baby!  But writers write.  That's usually what they do best.

   Since I use this site as a portfolio, I am less bothered by this thievery, and though I do not condone the practice I do take advantage of it.
   
   I’ve embedded links in most of my articles that all lead to my book promotions and sales avenues. When they steal my articles they also promote my book in places that I might not be able to reach.
   
   In such until the articles are taken down they serve my interests more than theirs

   No, I am more concerned about publishing new hubs here because of the new format changes that are being considered than theft right now. I can file DMCAs to get theft removed, but the new changes will do more damage.

   Article thefts are always happening, unfortunately.  It's an occupational hazard of writing online.  Usually, Google places the copied articles much lower in the rankings so the effects are very limited.  I appreciate that plagiarism can seem shocking to new online writers, but most experienced writers carry on as normal, putting in an official complaint such as a DMCA when necessary.

   I have not stopped, although it's true that I haven't posted anything since it started.  I am working on several hubs, and am holding off a bit to see if anything happens with That Site We Know About.  But I will not let that stop me from publishing once I'm ready to post them.  One hold-up has been the huge amount of time and distraction of dealing with several hubs having been stolen.
   
   Congrats, Arlene, on your payout!  I agree - nine months and a lot of work - sure sounds like a big baby!  I'm so glad for you!

   I really appreciate all of the help by the experienced people with filling out DMCA's and finding the address' to send them. I was lost and have this figured out now. I have a DMCA template saved on my computer for future use thanks to the help you all gave to Homesteadbound. I used hers to make mine. Things like this are what makes HubPages so great. All of the wonderful people that seem to congregate to this writing community.
