Answer to our economic woes - we must all work harder!

   After probably the most shambolic couple of months I have ever witnessed by a government in the UK, our totally inept Coalition Government has now decided it is all the fault of business and the citizens.
   
   We should all stop moaning, work harder, and not interrupt our MPs while they are preparing for their exceptionally long summer break and filling in their expense claims.

   Fairly understandably, UK business leaders, who have had to put up with years of more and more regulations and red tape being added, are not amused.  And I thought government was there to help and encourage industry?

      Fair enough, then-would hate to interrupt my MP when they have serious business of government to discuss Will start 80 hour week next week; but this week I have to catch up with the washing (weather permitting)

      Coming from me this will sound strange,but I actually agree with Mr Hague (still can't believe i said that).
      His attack was to the large companies whinning about not getting enough help form goverment. The large balances many of these companies are sitting on right now, rather than investing in R&D and growing there work forces are almost as great as in the 1980's self of the silver.
      CEO's and FD's want goverment to give them financial inducement rrather than risk their own cash balances.

         True enough, but the way the government have chosen to go about letting their concerns be known is certainly not the way to move the situation forward.  Berating business leaders like naughty children is just going to make them dig their heels in.
         
         The government needs to work out a strategy that works for everyone on how to get industry investing again and creating growth and jobs.  If business is currently risk averse then they need to work out why and try to help create more confidence.
         
         Maybe if the politicians led by example (working harder, cutting down the length of their holidays, take cuts to their pension, expenses etc) the rest of us the country might be more inclined to follow.

               Let's hope not - let's hope that our leaders begin to show some leadership, stop tinkering around the edges on projects that don't mean much to most voters and get down to some real graft on the issues that actually mean something to ordinary people.

   Already have two 'employed' jobs, plus one self-employed job, but think I could squeeze in another 20 hours work somewhere, I'm sure!

      That's the attitude! Like you I ony have the two jobs and i am sure I can fit some more hours in- I mean I ony have a family to look after too- but hey it can't be that hard!

      Sure you do. You're just too entitled to realize that you can turn the urine into useable water, and barely manage to eek by and survive.

   Although maybe Whitehall should lead by example, instead of these new contracts where they can get an extra 3 days holiday a month for staying until 6pm, which for most of us would be knocking off early
