After a major drop in traffic last week, where I'm now only getting 5 or less views from google, I'm wondering if I have been sandboxed... And if so is it because my writings on hubpages are too diverse? I have topics from weather to gardening, television, movies and recipes. If my hubs are too diverse would choosing a topic and adding more of them help even with keeping the hubs I've already published? Thanks in advance!
I've wondered about this too. Maybe I should stick to a niche topic. I'd like to see everyone else's replies.
My hub views dropped overall for a few days like everyone else's, but since then they have picked up again. I have had more views from Google than from hubpages since about the first month of publishing. Usually 3 Google views to 1 hubpages view, and that doesn't include the Google views from outside the states. My collection of hubs is pretty diverse, check them out and see for yourself.
I have a career blog that is on first page on Google. I don't see no more traffic on that blog than I get here.
I also have a blog on all kinds of topics it gets about the same amount of visitors but I get far better Google earnings.
Finding a good niche is hard to do. What I recommend is look at your account and see what articles are preforming the best.
Lets say you have an article on "How to Fix a Dryer" and you are getting alot of traffic.
Write another article on "How to Fix a Dryer belt" you see what I am saying then link them together.
Good advice, this is what I have been doing for my whole time here. I cannot complain, well I could but no one would care.
Yeah I think that's whatim going to start working on thanks tamron
They say do not put all your eggs in the same basket. Even if Google hated Hubpages I still get good traffic by linking my content from different sites.
You wouldn't believe it but I get good traffic from the The Reviewer site. I don't know why because to me the site looks tacky.
I will have to check out the site because I have not posted on it for a long while but I still get earnings and traffic. Let me find it I will give you the link.
The name of the site I was referring to is"BestReviewer.com" Like I said I don't know why I still earn from that site but I do. I have not posted there in a long time but since I have some hubs and articles I can publish on there I think I will.
I didn't post there for a long time because there was an annoying ad on the site it even appeared when you tried to publish your top.
I complained but nothing was done. So I quit! I noticed now the ad is not there So I will publish some more tops.
I have a pretty wide array of topics as well, and have noticed a large drop in traffic, but things have recently picked up due to a hub I read yesterday on sharing. I'm still not sure how to increase my rank with google however. Anyone have any ideas? lol
Daughter of Maat, Your profile Rank is a 3. That isn't too bad. Only the top earners have a 4 and as far as I know, no one has higher than that than Hubpages themselves for a Google ranking.
Daughter Of Maat
If your Page Rank is 3 you're off to a great start. Especially since you have only been writing for hubpages for 6 months.
I don't know what mine is for hubpages but my career blog had a PR of a 3 its probably a 1 now because I haven't posted for about 3 months.
To get your PR higher you must post and update your domain on a regular bases which Is hard for me to do right now.
People tend to link to you more often if you have a pr of a 2 and higher.
I really don't even understand the whole PR thing. But since you're the second person to tell me that, it must be good info. Now, if I can just keep my rank at 3 lol
Here's the link to find out your page rank:

I checked my rank yesterday and it was a 2. I wonder, does it vary daily? and how often should you update your hubs to keep them "fresh" in google's eyes? Once a week? Once a month? Google is so fickle!

Four months ago some of us noticed that certain topics were ill-distributed on the new vertical sites. Now that the sites are up and running more or less successfully, is it now time to rekindle the discussion / negotiations on creating a couple of additional sites to better host certain...

The focus of HP has turned to the niche sites. Editing services will only be used on hubs being considered for the several new niche domains for the foreseeable future. The niche topics chosen for the next year or so seem to be pets, tattoos, piercings, beauty, food, and beverage. If we don't write...

Is there a way to get rid of unwanted traffic sites that attach a link to our hubs without our knowledge? I try to individually monitor my hubs for suspicious traffic and have written two letters to the offender who has sent me 8 visits on one hub this week. Now HubPages has marked my hub with a...

On a different account, somewhat "experimental" account, one of my Hubs is unfeatured. Generally my inclination was to unpublish it and move it or just delete it. But I kept it and put it in a Hub group. Meaning, if the Hubs before and after it get traffic, possibly the unfeatured one...

This has got to be some sort of joke. This site is not an easy place to make a fast buck. I knew that when I started. I then did the apprenticeship. It hasn't done me one iota of good. I have written well over 70 hubs, some of which were HOTD. My earnings in the last week are [redacted] ...

There has been a lot of discussion in the last few days about HP changing the rules and people being un-featured or even un-published for spam and over promotional activity. So I just want to add my thoughts......Whether people (writers) like it or not most of their traffic will be coming from...
