The End of Glasgow Rangers?

   It appears that Glasgow Rangers who've existed since 1899, and have since become the most successful club domestically in the world will be liquidated. Though, they are being resurrected as a new company, but whether they are allowed to continue playing in the SPL is up to the other teams.

   Surely, the financial demise of a club like Glasgow Rangers must force the football authorities to re-evaluate how the game is run, and also to look into how they can stem spiralling costs such as player wages and transfer fees.

      remember River Plate in Argentina. I don't think the game needs to be run different. Some clubs are very well run fiscally or have really rich owners to cover their expenses. Glasgow Rangers considering its years, should have had one or the other and had neither.
      They will be let back in, it is to storied a club and Glasgow needs it, Celtic certainly don't want Rangers gone, the Old Firm is the biggest game in Scotland. but, this could be a blessing to Rangers. Many old sports clubs that go through these woes when they do come out of them, are quite strong

         True, very true, but footballs finances have been out of control for a long time. Something needs to be done, whether it be salary caps, greater sharing of revenue, tighter control of transfer fees.
         
         I'm not aware of what happened to River Plate- did they go bust too?

      This is big business in action again!
      
      Rangers were a very successful club with a huge die-hard fan base when they floated on the stock market.
      
      Fans (and in this case it is really is short for 'FANATICAL') put their life savings into buying a few paltry shares (each one was incredibly expensive), and in return got a cheaper season ticket to see all the games.
      
      Some only bought shares to get the cheaper season ticket because the normal price was astronomical!
      
      Rangers, like every other big club throughout the UK, used the cash input to buy expensive foreign players, at the expense of local talent.
      
      Celtic did too.
      
      How can they be thought of as Scottish teams when they hardly had any Scottish players, is anyone's guess!
      
      The result of course was that many young lads didn't come up through the ranks, and the Scottish National team was made of 3rd division footballers who could never win a game!
      
      So, it took some calamity at the top of the board, or among the money men, to bring an institution down, and those fans, who were working class, lost all their money through following their team, or because they felt they had to buy in order to make their seats affordable.
      
      I think the whole situation is disgusting.
      
      I feel so sorry for those Rangers fans - they are the real losers in this, not the money men or the big business behind them!
      
      On and I'm a Celtic fan.
