    Hi smile

According to my e-mailed 'Hub Pages weekly' report, in the past 7 days my hub views are down 21.1% and my profile views are down 39.6%. I usually earn an average of about a dollar per day, but, so far this month, it has averaged at 67.6 cents per day.

Has anyone else noticed the same pattern, or is it just me?

In addition to what Relache said, AdSense PPC goes down on summer. (Source: my own account trend from winter to summer to winter to summer)

It's quite common for many authors to see traffic go down in the summer months as many people engage in more and more off-line activities and take vacations.

Yeah, what relache said. I wouldn't panic if it is just one week. I know it is disappointing, but like the Hitchikers guide the the galaxy says, "Don't Panic!" I hope your traffic rebounds soon! Good luck! smile

    Hi smile

    OK, thanks.

I suppose that it's because it doesn't actually seem very much like summer, here in England smile smile

Aww, yeah I heard England forgot to switch to summer! I hope it warms up so you can go out and enjoy warm weather, too!

It may be the summer season drop, but many of us have had a large drop in our traffic lately. Paul Edmonson made a comment on a forum question that suggested the Google Panda 3.7 update is responsible for a lot of the decreased traffic. Hope your traffic comes back!

One really big traffic drop that you can anticipate for sure is the 4th of July weekend in the US.  Very nearly everyone sees a downswing from that.

And from then through Labor Day is the time when Americans take their longest vacation breaks of the year.  So you get a lot of "popcorn" reporting ("my traffic just dropped!... mine didn't... mine is up!") until post-Labor Day when back-to-school happens.

I've been writing online for a decade now and this type of pattern repeats every summer.  You saw it in the pre-Panda and pre-Penguin days too.

Relache, thanks for the warning. Now I won't have heart palipatations as I watch my stats drop on the 4th week and weekend, haha! My goal for the week is to lower my bounce rate. Maybe this is not the best time to have that as my goal!

At this rate, I might evaporate and stop existing altogether. It's a good thing I don't write here for earnings. I'd be very pissed off if that were the case.

Cool!  I've never witnessed anyone "evaporate" before.  yikes  Your powers are greater than I suspected, Klara!  lol

That's good to know. I haven't been writing online for very long, and while traffic drops in summer make perfect sense, I didn't realize how long it lasted or how certain holidays affected it. Thanks for sharing this!

This is very helpful to know.  It seems like something that should be posted in big letters up front where everyone can see it so we don't panic when it happens.  Thanks relache!

I was surprised to see an increase in hub views this week. Views have been basically steady for a few weeks, but something caused an increase.
As relache pointed out, the summer months can be slow, as well as weekends. The weekly threads in the forum about views going down towards the end of the week prove the weekend drop. I've learned not to gauge stats weekly, it's better to take a month or 3 months at a time look at stats.

I often go to Quantcast.com and set the timespan to "all" to reassure myself. On every major site where I publish, there is a distinct June-July sag.

On the principle that a lot of us are writing at least some articles of useful information, and students are using them for homework and research, that makes sense. (Also, I suspect kids do more web surfing during school and college than at home.)
