I have written a couple of articles and posted my website address in the main body of text, yet no back link checkers seem to be picking this up... am I doing something wrong?

Sorry if this seems like quite a silly question but I'm new to writing articles on anything other than my own blog smile

      Hi Andy,

You will only see a very small percentage of your links show up if you use a backlink checker such as the link: command in google. All you can really do is check that the page that you put the link in is indexed by google and then you can be sure that your link exists. (just search for the url of the page between "" and see if google search finds it)

As a photographer maybe you should use places like pintrest and other sites to share some of your work with links to your main site. This may result in many extra links if people share your pictures.

Hi LeanMan, thanks for the reply smile

Yeah pininterest and pixoto as well... good plan, I'll make sure I do this.

When you said put in the url of the page between "" did which URL do you mean?  The hub I created?  I can't seem to find a URL with any "" in it for this?

if you want to see if a page is indexed just type the url between quotes into a normal google search and you will see if google recognizes it.
So putting "http://andyhudsonphoto.hubpages.com/" into a google search will tell you if your profile is indexed, if it is then google has seen the link to your site on that page.
You can do that for any other page where you have left a link.
But don't go mad with links, find ways to make other people link to you, which is why I would suggest using places like pintrest where other people may take some of your pictures with your links..

Your links would still be no follow as your profile score is below 75 at the moment..

Yeah that's a good point tbh, but I'd still like to know how to do it correctly for when my score gets to 75+ smile

I am no expert on backlinking. However, I just took a look at your website and you have some gorgeous work! I think Pinterest is definitely a great place for you and your photos. There are plenty of people on Pinterest who are looking fo backlinks, but there are plenty more who are there for creative reasons or who just want an enjoyable, relaxing way to spend some time. I think lots of Pinterest members will love looking at and repinning your work, while others will appreciate the photogrpahy tips in your articles. Use the pin-it button on your hubs, and the photos will show up on Pinterest but will link back to your articles.

You didn't ask for advice on your articles, but I'll go ahead and say I think you should include plenty of your photos in your articles, and space them throughout the text rather than placing them all at the bottom.

I'll also say thanks for the tips in your articles! I'm trying to improve my photography and especially liked the article about using lines. I'm a follower now and look forward to learning more from you.

Thank you for your kind comments and also the tips on the article... good idea to space the pictures throughout the article so I'll definately do that from now on smile

I've requested to join pininterest now so hopefully I can put some of my photos on there soon and people will start pinning them.

Thanks again for your kind comments smile
