Gaining new followers

   I have been with HubPages 3 months and only have 28 followers. I have seen several people who have been members for only a few days and they have hundreds of followers, I've also seen people who click follow on a dozen other members at a time. This seems to grow their "followers" is this the way to go?

      That might have something to do with the fact that you only have 14 posts in the forums. Don't know who you are or know of anything you've written. Therefore, I didn't know you existed.
      Following lots of people is one method to gain followers.
      
      There were a couple of hubbers who were here or might still be here, that did that with great success. They received over 3000 followers in a very short time. It seems as though a lot of people will play along the I follow you and you follow me type of game. I won't deny it works.
      
      But, what quality of followers are you getting and what do you plan do with them? I have many followers, but I have been extremely active on HubPages in my 2 years, almost 3 years being here.
      
      If I wasn't so active in the forum, then I would be doing other things, which are getting done anyways(I would probably do more writing, however, I don't cover a whole lot of different topics), but I enjoy the forum community.
      
      I rather enjoy my followers and their comments. I appreciate every one who reads my hubs, regardless of whether or not, they are a follower of my writing.
      
      There are other ways of getting followers, such as reading and commenting on other people's hubs that interest you and/or even challenge you. You might make some new friends, and I mean friends. People who will actually accept you.
      
      I know, I found that as being a part of HubPages.

   Welcome to HP as Cagsil said, some people go on 'fanning spree's' which generally, is frowned upon. Followers should be gained 'naturally' like a backlink think I need to cut back on my pain meds

   I agree about posting in the forums, people see some comment you made and may just look you up out of curiousity.
   
   Also, if you do happen to write on many topics, then you may get more readers and the better  your hubs, word of mouth spreads, and people may share your hub on facebook or something.
   
   Following people is good, if you like their work. I try to comment on my followers hub every now and then esp if I haven't in a while. The new feature of "recent hubs" under "hubbers you follow" really helps me, so I can keep up to date on the newest ones,
   
   But the longer you are here, the more people you'll meet and vice versa! Try commenting on hubs you like or topics you're interested in, also answering or asking questions.

   I read hubs from topic areas I'm interested in/write about and I'll comment and then follow if I like the writing and the hub as a whole. That way I'm likely to get a response in a comment box or even a direct follow. It's seems a positive thing to get together with like minded hubbers and share thoughts,opinions, new hubs. You don't always have to agree! But it creates hub energy if you at least reply and that's of benefit to whole system.

   Yeah, I saw someone who had been active for 2 hours with over a hundred followers.  Those are some mad ninja skills.  =-P
