Morning. OK, Now. Before you Slam and Dunk me, allow me to lay out, TWO Scenario's.

    1. You are just coming home from a party. It is late, about 1:00 AM.
As you pull into your driveway, you see two People taking your Children from your home.

    NOW, Where is your GUN?

In your house, nice and safe, in your safe.

The Babysitter is dead. WHY, she could not get to a weapon to protect everybody.

Think about this before your answer.....

    2. Your daughter works at McDonald's. It is her Birthday. You want to give her a Happy Birthday Party.

You invite a few friends and away you go.

Out of no-where, in comes a person with a gun, and, just starts shooting.

NOW, Where is you Gun. At Home in a Safe.

I have a, CWP, and, have taken Gun Courses, and Proud of it.

OK, I am done. You may now let me have it.

Well, perhaps you missed my point.

My point is about, CWP = Concealed Weapons Permit.

YES, this was just one of many Articles, I chose.

This Issue is not, NOT, about the writer, author, Group.

        It is about, CWP.

Okay, I did think about it and you put up a specific scenario. You stated the Gun was in the house, in a safe to more specific. Of course the babysitter is dead because she couldn't get to it. She isn't suppose to be able to have access to it. Giving a babysitter access to a weapon such as a gun would be completely irresponsible. To think otherwise is absurd.

Not to mention, the absurd level of negativity in the above scenario doesn't nothing to settle any division on the issue.

As for the second example, life has risks. You take them regardless of whether or not you recognize the risk in doing so.

Oh, I'm just so excited that we're regressing back to the Old West! I just can't wait until it's more normal for two guys to draw in the street! Oh, gee! hmm

Well, I guess it's such a dangerous world that we just hafta carry weapons. They don't feel they have to in Britain. They don't feel they have to in France. Or Cambodia or Japan or or or.

Oh! Wait a minute! They do in Pakistan. And they do in Afghanistan. Maybe we have more in common with countries that house paranoid, ignorant religious fanatics than we think we do.

What I do get is that if two idiots are arguing, and neither of them have guns, the people around them aren't going to get shot up.

Gee, maybe it means that you don't get it.

The right of people to bear arms doesn't have to mean that every paranoid, hard-edged jerk in the country absolutely HAS to carry one.

I would never send my child to a school where the teachers carried loaded weapons. Kids sneaking them in from home (thanks to careless parents) is dangerous enough. I don't want those crazies forcing loaded weapons away from teachers, many of whom aren't comfortable with weapons or confrontation to begin with. IMHO, more guns in schools is not a smart answer to a few guns snuck into schools.

AMERICA'S HUNTERS ---Interesting slant on things
And this doesn't say anything about how much each of those hunting licenses cost, that's a lot of revenue for the states !
      AMERICA'S HUNTERS --- Pretty
      Amazing!

The world's largest army... America 's hunters!
I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales
in just a handful of states and
      arrived at a striking conclusion:

      There were over 600,000 hunters
this season in the state of Wisconsin alone.
Allow me to restate that number:

Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters
became the eighth largest army in the world.

More men under arms than in Iran.

More than France and Germany combined.

These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms,
      and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania andMichigan's
700,000 hunters, all of whom have now
      returned home safely.
Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia
and it literally establishes the fact that the
hunters of those four states alone would
comprise the largest army in the world.
And then add in the total number of hunters
      in the other 46 states.
      It's millions more.

      The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion
with that kind of home-grown firepower.

Hunting.... it's not just a way to fill the freezer..
It's a matter of national security.

      ***************************************
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic,
      want to see us disarmed.
      Food for thought,
when next we consider gun control.
      Have A Great Day!
      -------------------------------------
      Overall it's true,
so if we disregard some assumptions
that hunters don't possess the same skills
as soldiers, the question would still remain...
what army of 2 million would want to face
      30, 40, 50 million armed citizens.
(IF YOU AGREE, AS I DO, PASS IT ON, I FEEL GOOD THAT I HAVE AN ARMY OF MILLIONS WHO WOULD PROTECT OUR LAND AND I SURE DON'T WANT THE GOVERNMENT TAKING CONTROL OF THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS)
For the sake of our freedom,

      OLY

ur comment is complete nonsense. The statements are logical fallacies each and every one of them, and whats more they do not even account for the World Wars and effects of a global conflict:
Turkey - Armenia WWI military conflict -> nothing to do with a right to bear arms
Russia -> 20 million Russian citizens died during WWII alone
China -> Manchuria occupied by Japan in 1931; full scale invasion 1937
Germany -> complete militarization of society under National Socialist rule
I can go on but there is no point...

The "disarming citizens causes massacres and genocide" argument is straight out of Joe the Plumber's "I love America" campaign ad. It's been posted here on HP forums.

Here's a text excerpt about the ad.

"Joe the Plumber," the Ohio man who became a minor celebrity during the 2008 presidential campaign, claims The Holocaust happened because of German gun control in a video for his congressional campaign.

The video features footage of Samuel Wurzelbacher, shooting fruit and vegetable targets with a shotgun while explaining how gun control led to both The Holocaust and Armenian genocide.

"In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others, unable to defend themselves, were exterminated," Wurzelbacher says, after a near-identical statement about the Armenian genocide 20 years earlier.

The ad ends with Wurzelbacher facing the camera, on an improvised shooting range, shotgun in hand, saying "I love America."

Wurzelbacher became a near-household name in the 2008 presidential campaign after he criticized then-candidate Obama's tax policy. He is now running as a Republican candidate for Ohio's 9th district congressional seat.

His spokesman, Phil Christofanelli, told Politicker there was "nothing offensive" about the video, adding that Wurzelbacher considers himself a student of history and therefore a firm believer in the Second Amendment.

I absolutely agree that the right to own weapons is essential for freedom and safety, I say that having grown up under a dictatorship and I totally agree we should have that right and minimize restrictions on it, however to believe that gun ownership is sufficient to prevent genocide is entirely false I can give you plenty of examples where it has occurred in arms bearing countries and those same things absolutely could occur in the US, the way we treated Japanese people during WWII proves it.

Unfortunately, the natives of North America were not considered Americans.  If they were better armed, perhaps this part of our history may not have occurred.

Shock: British NHS Euthanizes 130,000 Elderly Patients Annually

Shocking news from England today has top NHS officials indicating doctors acting in the UK government-run health program annually kill as many as 130,000 patients prematurely because of overcrowding at hospitals, medical clinics and nursing homes.

Professor Patrick Pullicino indicated doctors are turning to a so-called “death pathway” protocol that is essentially active euthanasia of patients, according to a London Daily Mail news report. Pullicino, a consultant neurologist for East Kent Hospitals and Professor of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Kent, made his remarks in a speech before the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

The people of the United States do not support the use of DEATH PANELS!

The article is a shock piece on a tabloid news source, it lacks any reliable inform or backup except the opinion of one doctor, our insurance companies here make the same decisions by the way, if the prognosis is terminal many withdraw their funding for life support.

this article is completely loaded and is propaganda of the worst kind... any European cant help but laugh at such nonsense. 100% of European population has health care coverage. while guns are smth that only criminals walk around with

The two issues are not really related, I would argue that having only criminals carrying guns is a bad thing.

Completely agree on both points. My follow up is that the right to bear arms for protection is delegated to the police and society as a whole... this being said so is the burden of caring for the sick and needy. One cannot decrease crime and violence by arming the populace, this can only be achieved by elimination of the social factor which force people to become violent. No individual, or corporation,  can achieve this independently. In fact, it is an economic fact that the invisible hand of the market fails precisely in those areas which are most important for a healthy and fully functioning society.

Completely agreed, I don't see gun ownership as a method of reducing crime but #1 as a freedom that people should have a s responsible adults and #2 as an insurance against oppression.

As do Americans, we laugh at Europeans when they spout how the United States should become more like Europe.

Here is a novel idea, why doesn't Europe compensate the United States for our military protection?

        That is the problem!

We can no longer afford to spend our wealth to protect other sovereign nations.  It is about time that other Nations either:

            Protect themselves.

Compensate those that are paying for the protection.

Guess what, the only country other nations need protection from at this point in history is in fact the US. Nations which have actually experienced wars at home and thousands and millions of CIVILIAN casualties have realized a while back that war is senseless, and pretty much all of us have hooped on the economic development and regional integration bandwagon. The single greatest cause for military conflict in the post-Soviet era have been US corporate interests.

Gotta agree with that, if Europe owes us for helping them we owe a ton of countries for damaging them.

I do not mean that we should be compensated for past protection, I am referring to the protection we are providing currently and in the future.

I would much prefer to have our men and women home.

than that is the point which u as voters should be making more vocally. US military personnel stationed around the globe serves and protects no one except the notion of US imperialism. With the money necessary to maintain this presence the US could have achieved energy independence over a decade ago. This in turn would mean peace in the Near East an ensured US domination, but through science and technology and not military might. The whole world would be better off if US soldiers are brought back to their families to protect US soil.

MAN SHOOTS SELF IN THE PENIS IN BIRMINGHAM
    June 15, 2012  |

    By Tammy Stables Battaglia

A Southfield man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the penis as he adjusted his gun, according to police.

The 45-year-old heating and air-conditioning company employee was on a job in Birmingham on Tuesday when the incident took place, Birmingham Police Deputy Chief Mark Clemence said today. He was getting ready to work and was moving the .40-caliber Glock pistol in his pants when it discharged at 11:15 a.m.

"Through and through, if you can believe it," Clemence said. "The situation could have been a lot worse. You think about it -- your femoral artery runs down there. He could have shot it off. It could have been a lot worse. It’s a big bullet; you’re not talking a small bullet."

A coworker on the job on the 300 block of Wimbleton saw the accident and drove the man to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Clemence said today he did not know if the man has been released.

Although he had a permit to carry the gun, he may face charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, Clemence said. The city's prosecutor is expected to review the case, he added.
