Has anyone else had a problem with them, and how did you sort it out?
Last week I found a copied hub symbol (thanks, HP!) and on tracking it down, found it most of one article copied by user "beauty tips" on tumblr.com. No credit given, signed by them as if they wrote it - no back link.
The only way to contact tumblr effectively was to join, so I did, and then sent them the DMCA notice provided by HP (thanks again!) along with the info they required.
I tracked down the user with whosis - lesli angel, who owns about 1000 domains - and found info on another site. I then sent a DMCA notice to that email.
I then filled out the Google AdSense form one uses to file a DCMA notice, and sent that in, too.

So far I have heard nothing, and the article is still up. Has anyone else had dealings with tumblr or this user? Any ideas how I can get some action? It was one of my top viewded hubs, but traffic is dropping off noticeably.

You can use Google de-indexing tool.  I tried to find the link but couldn't find it.  Maybe someone else will help you with a link.

Thanks tamron. How would that help me get someone who copied/stole my hub to take it down?

If you know where your content was duplicated just submit the link from the copied content.  Google will remove it off the serps.

Really? I thought that tool was for your own work only. So it is possible to damage someone else's site just by sending their url there? Somehow, I don't think so.

I have some success in the past by contacting the host; they are ultimately responsible for what is on their equipment I believe.

No but I have a lot of experience with getting Google to take-down sites, and de-index them for copying.

Sometimes it takes a few days for them to get back to you, but they always let you you know what is happening.

You have reported the copier. Give it a few more days, and you will be notified of what action Google took.

If tumblr closes the account of the thief that stole the OP's work, I'll take back my rant. big_smile

Well, you know they are just setting themselves up for future problems of they allow this behaviour to continue.

Hell mend them, as they say in my neck of the woods.

My rant for the day... big_smile

tumblr.com can stick it! I posted a link to one of my hubs on there. They immediately accused me of self-promotion and closed my account. I mean seriously, if you can't post links to your own hubs, what the hell good are they?  Jeez, they're fine with plagiarizing other people's work, but posting links to your own work is a no-no. Morons.
