Negative votes in Answers

   It looks like we have a few people who are deliberately voting down answers. For what? For fun? Time to get a new hobby kiddies.
   
   I have seen at least 6 this morning that have about 4 or 5 negative votes. Does this seem warranted to you?

   The -4's seem suspect. I doubt it's a combined effort. Perhaps one person with multiple accounts?

   Susan, I'm surprised you didn't notice this sooner. I've seen a few of your answers coming up with negative votes on them when they certainly didn't deserve them. There are a couple of others who I have seen appear to have a downrating stalker!
   
   Is there enough staff to track who is downrating consistently?

   It seems like trolls come in waves here. It's sad. I didn't notice them so much at first, but I think the longer a person is at HP, the more we notice weird stuff. I know some people register under multiple names for sensible reasons and others do it just to cause trouble.

      It seems the 2nd answerer votes down the 1st answer. The 3rd answerer votes down the 2nd and 1st answer... and so on and so forth.

         That doesn't fit with the pattern, and if people are doing that that is just a ridiculous as doing it just in passing.

   Agreed - your answer was fine, Susan. Scramblingman's answer, about seeing 'Gates of Fire' made into a film, was a good one - no need for downrating, so mischief seems to be afoot.

    There has been a general negative vibe at hubpages for a little while now.  I agree with Pam.  It seemed cool for the first 6 months or so, but now there are trolls galore.

    I just ticked over 10 months on hubpages, not long I know, but I have seen more trolls in the last two months than the other 8.

    I haven't noticed the issue, although I have noticed a lot of answers that aren't related, don't answer the questions, or some other issue. I've negative rated those.

    I've not been here long *at all* but have seen significantly more spam since the change in the Q&A section. I honestly think it was better the way it was to begin with (or rather, when I first got here lol). Allowing short answers seems to be lending itself to more and more spam.
    
    Some people are very considerate of how they answer and there are a couple who always hub their answer rather than using the short version. There are some great people here, but there always has to be a balance between "too small" and "too large."

    One question had all downrated answers, which makes me think that some people were just playing around with the system.  Honestly I think Hubpages should take away the feature of downvoted answers because it seems very arbitrary.  It would be better to go back to the old structure.

       Yes, it'll make the section as useless as many of the Yahoo Answers are. People tend to vote down everything they disagree with in order to get it hidden.

          I stopped using Yahoo answers for that reason.  I still look at it sometimes, but I have seen some perfectly good answers rated down for no reason, except maybe some tweens were playing around on the computer.

    We are investigating this.  To be clear, using multiple accounts to vote an answer up or down is a violation of the HubPages Terms of Use, and may result in the revoking of your voting privilege or your accounts being closed.
