When I first joined Hubs I posted a review I had written for another website but it was flagged by Hubs as duplicate content even though I wrote it.

So I am asking if I post a hub on hubpages first am I allowed to post it elsewhere afterwards or do Hubpages any rights to it, just curious ?

You can post elsewhere.  I have a few myself, all my writing, so I post here first.

    Well, sort of smile

To the best of my knowledge you should not have any outgoing links on a dupe hub, or otherwise promote any external entity. And it will be penalized in hubscore regardless. smile

I keep meaning to post articles elsewhere. Wouldn't it be best to simply rewrite it?

Hey Badco, yes I would suggest changing the words on it if you were gonna post elsewhere.

Duplicate content will screw up your google rankings, even if allowed by Hubpages.

Once G realizes there are two webpages with the same content, it will choose one for it's index and toss the rest. Or perhaps toss both.

    G considers this spam.

Actually it makes sense to keep your hubs from duplication. It will affect the PR
