Liberals make me ill. Am I the only one?

   How can they possibly believe all of the ridiculous things they say? From global warming (oh sorry, it's climate change now) to rich people being evil, to wanting "free" health care for all without any rise in premiums; how can they say these things with a straight face? It makes me wonder if Hubpages is just overrun with them, or if our country is doomed!

      If you repeat a lie often enough many will begin to believe it.  It's called having a weak mind.  There is still a difference, in my mind anyway, between a liberal and a progressive.  Liberals are harmless and progressives are destructive and dangerous.

      Oh, you are far from alone.  Liberals live in a make believe world of subjective reasoning.  If they say, "the sky is red,"  then the sky is red.  It is red simply because THEY said it.  They say, "we need a national healthcare system and, we'll steal $700 billions from Medicare to pay for it."  Never mind the healthcare system is going to cost more than twice that amount.  Never mind they then say the Republicans are going to destroy Medicare by raiding it of money allotted.  But, God love 'em, they are a never source of entertainment to me.  The best unintentional comedians in the world are Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

         I agree about the entertainment aspect of it, they are definitely fun to watch. I especially love Debbie WasserWoman Schultz. But the problem is, they are making policy! We can only hope that most of those can be reversed when the new President is elected in November.

      You know what makes me crazy are prejudices brought about by assuming labels define a persons demeanor or character. I have had many discussions with people who are from both sides of the issues and never found it constructive to label a person by a few catch phrases that do not fit with my way of thinking. To label the person is even less effective and feeds into the climate current political parties espouse as the enemies of their causes. It separates us into petty bickering and nothing constructive can come of it other than creating enemies over hurt feelings.

      I wouldn't say they make me ill. You just have to understand where they are coming from. You see, a good crossection of liberals are taught things like moral relativism which means that lies are subjective and therefore not really lies at all, unless someone else is disagreeing with them. In which case you are a lying, racist, sexist, religious nut.  It makes perfect sense if you try not to think about it.

   I don't care for loud, obnoxious, totally close-minded people from either far end of the political spectrum.
   
   As for Wasserman-Schultz, did you see her recent interview with Anderson Cooper, where she misquoted the LA Times? He showed her, in black and white, why her claims were a lie, yet she still stood by it. I don't like her or Glenn Beck or Ed Schultz or Rush. I dunno, maybe I just prefer reasonable, thoughtful people.

      Well I agree; Debbie has had a makeover as of this morning because she gets such poor ratings as a rep for the Dem party. It isn't about her looks though, she is just hard to listen to because she spews hate and doesn't understand the issues.
      
      But as for Rush, I confess I do love listening to him. However, it is only for the entertainment value of his show, not because I am too ignorant to make up my own mind and need someone to tell me what to think. He is hilarious and I love the nicknames he has for everyone. As for the callers who call into the show though, they need to get informed and make up their own minds. I may agree with him on the issues, but his rhetoric is a bit much. Hannity, Matthews, etc all make me ill because they make compromise/agreement impossible.

            I don't think he's on around here; of course I don't have satellite if that's where he is. I hear him mentioned preiodically by Hannity, who I only listen to because I'm in the car and can't stand most music these days...I have to agree with Savage in regard to Hannity; nickname Vanity! So accurate.

         She's a bit strident, for sure.
         Sort of the liberal counterpoint to Michele Bachmann. With MB, it's not how she looks, but  how hard (really hard) she is to listen to because she spews hate and doesn't understand (or PRETENDS not to understand) the issues.
         
         
         You raise a good point about Rush. What's scary is how so many listeners swallow what is supposed to be entertainment as gospel truth.
         I wonder if they'd figure it out if Rush were made into a cartoon? Like the Simpsons or South Park?
         For my money (which I have none so no hatin' on me, people), Stephen Colbert is the #1 funniest of them all.
         I watched a segment of him pretending to fawn over O'Reilly on O'Reilly's show and it was da bomb!

            The difference is that Debbie is the chair of the DNC, Michelle Bachmann is not the spokesperson for the Republicans. Big difference. There are nuts on both sides but the ones representing the parties should not be so repulsive to viewers that they have to be constantly 'made-over' to keep appearing on tv. Again, it's not her looks, it's her way of communicating. She needs to learn to answer questions, not just spit out the party talking points every time. It's an embarassment and I'm definitely not a democrat.

               I even enjoy Bill Maher, although he can be a bit too crude for me. My hubby can't stand him because he's an atheist!

   I don't want to sound like "Suzy Sunshine" (or something - can't think of a good word here), but I think - when all is said and done - most people want the same things when it comes to things that are most important in life.  How to achieve those "same things" is where all the arguing goes on.  (Yes, there's corruption and whatever else that goes into who wants what laws/policies passed, but I mean the non-corrupt, decent, people who care about other people in the world and about this country.)
   
   Unless someone is corrupt or else is someone who is thinking of nobody and nothing else but his own self-interest (and if one cares about others and the country and the world in general self-interest can't always be the thing that determines votes), people shouldn't assume that others are stupid and/or evil (and/or whatever other thing they assume) just because they have a different set of beliefs about how to make things better.
   
   There'a whole lot of "not knowing what one is talking about", exaggerating, and general mucking up of facts that go around on both sides.  Being 100% deadseat against everything and everyone on the other side (regardless of "the other side is") is a sign that a person is not being reasonable or seeing a big enough picture.

         Sorry, I'm not buying that.  If you simply wanted to hear opinions and discuss differing beliefs, you wouldn't start off by saying beliefs with which you disagree make you ill and assign those beliefs (most of them erroneously) to a group of people you call liberals.  That does not encourage discussion and it's pretty rude.

   Liberals, for the most part, make me sick, too. I went to a very Liberal university. No, it wasn't Berkely, but the students liked to pretend that we were. There were protests on a daily basis on campus, bunch o' wanabe hippies everywhere. People with piercing, dreds, and marijuana. There was a huge "progressive" movement of making all the bathrooms same-sex (never passed, whew), in favor of the transexual students. Rather large population of homosexuals, too. And bisexuals, whom I believe were mostly just straight girls trying to "have fun" in college. Lots of "Humans vs. Zombies" to be played. One HvZ game even sacked a Bible study club, now that's some reverse-minority hate. And they all love Obama. Boy, do they love Obama. Got out of there soon enough to avoid seeing the massive amounts of Obama stickers and buttons clad on everyone.
   
   Yep, Liberals make me sick. Especially college-aged Liberal "hippies" that just go with it to be cool.
   
   Although I do believe in global warming! The evidence is outstanding; the Earth DOES go through climate changes (ice ages, and whatnot), this is going surprisingly quick compared to climate history! Not that there's anything we can do about it. So, may as well keep burning gasoline, breeding, and breathing!

      Yes, the college aged ones are the worst. My colleges were not super liberal, but I did major in Political Science, so had some pretty liberal professors who were very outspoken. Luckily I had been raised watching news and reading so was able to discern their opinions from reality. But of course many are not able to do that, and so end up following the crowd. Like those Occupy idiots foe example. Jobs are not given, they are earned. It's hard to find one and even harder when you want a lot of money for something someone else will do for less. That's life.
      
      The 'progressive' movement wasn't around back then, but liberals have been around forever and are just part of our fabric. I just wish they would be more reasonable and compromising... lol, like that will happen.
