Me, I'm a mixer.  I love making one pot meals - starch, veggies and meat all in one  bowl.  Even when I make separate meat and veggie dishes, I still mix them on my plate.  Like, I'll take a fork full of mashed potatoes and stick some chicken or peas on it for one bite.  Or if I cook meat in a sauce, I like to dump the sauce on everything on my plate - rice, veggies, etc.  Thanksgiving is my favorite - gravy on everything.

So, what's your preference?  Mixed or separate?

Separate... no way round...  I like well presented dishes and I  like to taste each individual flavour.

Depends...I make a lot of one-dish meals and I like them...I like the ease of preparation, the simplified clean-up and the way they taste.  BUT...I also like my food separate.  And when I'm eating a meal that's separated on my plate, I'll eat all of one thing before I move on to the next.  Last night we had steak and crab legs and shrimp.  I had to finish the salad before I started the pototato then finish the potato before I started the stead and then finish the steak...you get the idea.

    Tonight it's beef-brocolli, though.

I had lunch recently with a wonderful young Internet Marketer who is here from India. I was amused by the time and energy she invested using her fork to keep all of the items on her plate separated and eating them in clockwise order. When I commented on it she said it had been a life long routine.

Me, I'm a mixer. Probably why I'm such a cassarole freak like the chicken a la king biscuit one I fixed last night. I love it when the juice from my steak gets soaked up by my garlic toast and my baked or mashed potatos. On Thankgiving theres the turkey, the dressing, the tatos, the gravy, the cranberry sauce, mixing and swirling.....man am I getting hungry!

I agree with Princessa, every Individual flavor in a dish should be enjoyed by itself.
Unless it's a bit of hot cake or pie I'll most likely scoop up a smidge of ice cream along with it. But other than that, I rarely mix food together.
