That was the most ridiculous speech I've ever heard! Monotone, woe is me! He did everything but cry! lmao Critizided a lot but offered no solutions? Not very statesman like in my opinion. What did you think?
I thought he sounded extremely presidential.
But then, my husband and I watched with the sound muted.
Yeah, I have trouble listening to Obama sometimes, too.
Something about his inflection bugs me.
I don't think change in tone is the most important part of a speech, tbh.
Nor did I think it was anything near whiney... where did you get that?
I think it was actually very well-written, and will be effective with its target audience. Only about 3 sentences in that speech were written with the GOP in mind.
Admit it, Screaming: Had Romney given a speech to rival Pericles' "Funeral Oration," you'd criticize it! I've never seen you make a positive comment about Romney.
No, not at all! I voted for President Bush and this guy is talking the same game. Same game, same result in my opinion. It won't be a recession, it will be the GREAT Depression. Sorry, But I respectively disagree with your candidate choice as you do mine!)
Oh, I totally respect your choice. It's just that I'm always a little surprised and saddened when someone intelligent has such a closed mind. I see and have commented on the good in Obama - I just think he's in over his head. I don't like everything about Romney, either.
His speech about his younger days and family showed the real Romney. But his 5 point plan was scary and without detail. He mentioned Russia and China negatively. Last thing we need is another war. He mentioned 12 million jobs over four years, which is pretty much projected. Many I'm sure thought he meant shortly after being elected if that were to happen. He talked about schools and I have to ask myself, which privledged kids will get the best schools. He gave me absolutely no reason to vote for him. He was playing to the extreme right, unlike the Romney who was gov of Mass! If he has a chance of getting elected, he needs to be more of the Governor and quit allowing his puppeteers to pulls his strings andtell him what to say!
It actually seemed to me to be much more directed towards independents... oh well.
BTW, we do need to toughen up on other countries. They are cheating, plain and simple. Why is it that people who are for regulating businesses aren't for regulating international trade? China especially has been cheating for the longest time.
I'm for regulating business, wall street and Definately in favor of regulating international trade to level the playing field. But to say it in such a way that I'm tougher then you doesn't show Romney as someone I would want representing the United States. Sounds like a war monger!
I think you totally misunderstood the school thing. Romney thinks parents should have more choices in schools and education, and I agree.
I agree with you on the moderate issue. I wish the GOP would let Romney be Romney - not some far right version of the Mittster.
Allowing parents to pick a school isn't the fix, it's a bandaide. We need to give "All" kids the opportunity for the best education. That means getting the best of the best teachers and classes in all schools, no waiting in line to get in a known better school. Too many kids under that premise would still be left behind and at a disadvantage.
"Better school" is a subjective term. Schools can excel in science, math, writing, sports, art, music, business classes, etc. What might be the best school for some students wouldn't be the best "fit" for all. Public high schools today use a general cookie-cutter approach, and it's not working. Too many kids fall through the cracks.
"Third, we will make trade work for America by forging new trade agreements, and when nations cheat in trade, there will be unmistakable consequences."
You get war mongering out of that?
A strong candidate would hold his own. Romney is a chronic flip flop professional! Bring on the candidate who has been methodically taking care of every issue on his plate (Obama). Obama clearly needs more time. He is getting there. People need to speak to their senators and congressmen who are boycotting Obama's efforts. Romney does what is good for Romney.

Do you think there's still a chance that someone other than Romney or Gingrich will emerge and become the Republican nominee. Both Romney and Gingrich both have good, but not spectacular levels of support, and there is a sense that neither one of them quite fits the bill, in terms of what the party...

Do you research candidates before voting? How could anyone vote for Romney or Obama?I wrote articles about a local Modesto mayoral election in 2012. Though I was on the first Google results page for the biggest search phrases on Google (and there weren't too many!), only a few dozen read the...

What do you think about Mitt Romney being the first president in U.S. History to have millions stashed in offshore Tax Havens. You know I saw this tonight and it really bothers me that we keep letting people like this run for the US President. I'll tell you right up front that I don't support the...
