Obama speech moved...

   to an indoor venue that's smaller. A lot of Tarheels who have tickets ain't happy, especially when they were assured the speech would be in the huge stadium, "rain or shine." Because there's a 20% chance of rain, it's been moved.

         Obama's speech is set for 10 pm. The Weather Channel says 0% chance of rain and clear skies then.

               Yep, that's what the right is saying. They're also saying members of black churches from SC and GA had to be bused in to fill the seats in the hall. I doubt that. Obama has a lot of fans.
               
               I've sat on plenty of wet seats to watch football games! lol

            The indoor convention center was occupied all day. Do you think it would have been practical to move outdoors for Obama's speech? You are grasping at straws.

   I think when they made the decision yesterday, the percentage was higher.  I don't see a real issue with this, they had to make a call.

   It was a good decision.  This convention has been masterfully planned from the beginning, and this is just another good decision on the part of the event planners.

      I'm not necessarily saying it was a bad plan, but they shouldn't have emphasized that the event would be held in the stadium, "rain or shine." A lot of people are really disappointed that they won't be able to attend now. I read, however, that Obama is going to speak to them at a later event to try and make it up to them.
      
      What do you think the finale will be now? It was going to be fireworks outdoors, and the DNC says they can't get enough balloons for a drop on such short notice. I say they pass out uninflated balloons to all the guests, and have each one blow two up! lol

         The finale?  How about a torrential "rain" of red, white and blue sparkly confetti?  Although I'm sure there will be plenty of hot air in there to implement your balloon idea.

            I was thinking about all the hot air, too! lol. Maybe they could get the Rs to pitch in, as they also have a huge supply. I still think they might be able to pull off the balloon drop. Since the weather forecast is now calling for clear skies, maybe they could do fireworks after the speech at an outdoor venue?

   Yep, sittin' here 40 miles away and skies are clearing. Rains off and on this time of year- common knowledge. Some of the DNC folks are upset with Charlotte's hotel accommodations. Seems they're discovering the national outbreak of bedbugs in places with obscure hotel names. Many have sought rooms outside the city limits. Rumor has it they couldn't fill the 70,000 seat Bank of America stadium..?

   Wonder if the left out get a refund? There's the safety issue with any potential stormy weather; besides setting a gloomy atmosphere over the proceedings if it occurred. The indoor place will only hold 15,000 to 20,000 people.

   CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A thunderstorm popped up over the site of the Democratic National Convention about seven hours before President Barack Obama gives his acceptance speech.
   
   Heavy rain started around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, and the National Weather Service issued a lightning advisory for the Charlotte airport.
   
   Campaign officials had decided earlier in the week to move Obama's speech indoors because of the chance of rain.

         I think the weatherpeople are actually behind the whole "global warming/climate change" hoax.
         It only makes sense. More severe weather = more job security for ... weatherpeople!
