So I am fairly new here and have written a few hubs, but to my surprise, no one has found my work yet. I can't seem to grow my fan base. I read a lot of everyone elses stuff and comment on everyones hubs, but I just get ignored.
How do you make friends on here? How do you get your work noticed and read?
I also write on ehow and wordpress and authornation, but here... no one says anything.HMMMM.....

just hang in there.  Keep posting in forums and commenting on hubs and keep your name in hubtivity. The more active you are, the more others will notice you and check out your page. Don't get discouraged--fans come along. wink

It took me close to 2/3 months before I started getting more visitors to my hubs. Just be patient and be active. Now I will go and pay visit to your hub. smile

Don't worry, it takes a while. Keep writing hubs, commenting on others' hubs and stay active in the forums...oh and now you've got one more fan - me!

I just came back to HubPages a few weeks ago and vowed to do it the right way this time.  Im just going to be active, try and write quality content and let the rest take care of itself.

Many of the hubbers who have been here a while say that if you do things right you will eventually have a snowball effect.

I think by publishing more hubs and by making clever comments you can be recognized by others or fans.I will join your hub.take care.

Janetta has the right of it, vkent. Keep writing, and get active in the forums. Sometimes you will be ignored, as hubbers sometimes talk only to their friends and seem to exclude newcomers, but hang in there. Post to forums that interest you and don't try too hard to be witty or clever - just be honest and be yourself. Let everyone get to know you, and things will pick up for you.

Well, I think it depends on the quality of your work, if it is the kind of work that grabs Hubbers' attention.

Also, there are so many hubs getting published that it's kind of hard to pick out one at a time to read and enjoy, so you may be getting a bit overlooked the first few times.

I'd totally just keep on writing and enjoying yourself, and that snowball effect everyone keeps talking about will happen!

Thank you all for replying... I was only curious how to get started because I had no clue. I'm trying to get out there and make friends, that's what I enjoy, meeting new people.
So, it's the weekend and I'm going to be very busy, but soon it will all be over again and I'll be going back to work. Everyone take care!

Hello vkent, it's not really surprising...I felt the same way too but then somehow a hubber or two would respond and you just find yourself having friends along the way.

    So...I'm Michelle...welcome to Hubpages. big_smile

Well...a BIG welcome to everyone who is new and my one piece of advice-- be patient wink
it takes a little time to get noticed, get fans and make money.
HubPages is a great community full of talented and wonderful writers. Everyone here, or at least most everyone here, wants your experience to be a great one so hang in there smile

Fans will come. Post in the forums here and there (yes, they can be a little intimidating, but you'll be fine) and comment on other hubs both of which get your name in hubtivity which gets you noticed and just like Redelf said--be yourself!!

This is a welcoming and helpful community so have fun and ask questions if you have any.
    And, once again--welcome!! big_smile
