I am changing my status to no contact me on my profile.  I have just gotten two e-mails from fundies and religious fanatics.  I do not appreciate it one bit.  So I am turning off that feature.  You all want to go save someone or convert them and tell me that I am confused and calling me names   --go right ahead, but do it publicly in the forums.  This way others can see exactly what you are doing and you can't hide.

    Nuff Said! Capeche!

Sorry to hear that Lady G.  A little tip for others - if anyone emails you and you are not comfortable with the message, don't reply to the email or it will show your personal email address.  You can reply them (if you decide to) on one of their Hubs.

Not if they have anasty habit of denying any of your posts, like some religious zealots here do.  They won't even read it let alone let you post it.

The email is useful - I have met quite a number of interesting people thru it. Why not just publish the loser's emails in the forums complete with their profile link -that would be more fun :-)

Yeah but that would be mean.  I think they got the point as one has been on line today already after I posted this here and on their hubpages.  I met lots of nice people tht way and I hope that this has not destroyed those relationships.

Oh what the heck--  Chukra G and Carrie Bradshaw
I think you can look them up yourself in the search box for hubbers.

I think contacting us via the contact e-mail on here is a privaledge and would never do the rants that they did in the e-mail they sent to me.

If you get an unsolicited email that you don't approve of, there's a link at the bottom where you can report it.

Well the first one from Carrie wasn't so bad, but by the forth one it was pretty bad.  The other guy, I think he got the point and so far he has only written that one.
I really don't like doing this because of those who are good people that I would like for them to contact me.  Those who push their religion can do so on the forums.  They don't need to do it in my private e-mail.
I also don't want to seem like a pest or whinner, but at the same time those were unsolicited.

Well now Carrie Bradshaw has told me that I deserve no respect and she will tell me whatever she wants.  I told her that she will respect those who comment on my hubs, mainly the What Is A Cult hub.  If she continues or my hubs gets taken down I warned her that I would report her.  Here is her profile page:  <snipped>

My hub that she is dis respecting others and myself on: <snipped>

Just watch out for her because a few of us think she was responsible for someone elses hub being taken down.  The nicer you are to her the more violent she gets.

She can't get a hub taken down - your hub is a balanced and useful guide to cults and I totally agree that most religions are cults too. The only way hubs get taken down is if they break the TOS - your's doesn't.

The lady sounds completely derranged and her comments and hubs make little to no sense -  I wouldn't bother debating with her to be honest - waste of energy

If the hub you are speaking of is the one that was merely written as a personal attack on Carrie Bradshaw, I am the one who flagged it. HubPages Management took it down due to violation of the TOS and because it was written as a personal attack against another hubber which is not a good thing to have here at an information site.

I'd report her, she is already misusing the email system... It tells you right on the page..."Do not threaten, harass, or spam our members. Emails sent through HubPages are logged"

I am sorry that that happened to you...everyone loves to claim the freedom of speech, but speech is only as free as it is non-damaging...But it would have made me mad too if someone had written me and told me how horrible of a person i am because i am a christian or messianic jew...

Don't let that kind of stuff bother you too much. If it does, it only means you're insecure about your beliefs. Shrug it off and move on. And hey, get your email contact feature back on. Its not worth losing good contacts over. Just my opinion.

I have had very positive experiences through the e-mail feature, but also very negative ones, too. I hate the nasty ones, but I enjoy getting ones from people regarding my video gaming addiction hub and students with questions about a few topics that I've written on. If I blocked, those guys couldn't get through.

I really wish we had a messaging system ON hubpages. I don't use my personal e-mail for hubpages, so it is not given out when I respond, but I've always wondered why there is no messaging system on here.

Also, perhaps we should start a thread of 'Hall of Shame'. lol Post the username, the message and their profile. That'd show 'em! big_smile But seriously, there are a few creeps on here. I'm just glad that all the awesome people are much more plentiful!!!!

I've wondered the same thing, girly_girl.  It really is a shame people misuse the email capability.  It would be nice to keep that separate from our home accounts.

I welcome emails from users if they are legit.  Like asking for info or something like that.

I have been in affiliate marketing off and on for 5 years and really got serious the last 2 years.  Im proud to say I have never sent one single spam email the entire time.

If people decide to spam me through here they will get reported, its just that simple

Thanks Guys!  I will turn my contact feature back on today.
So, not to start an argument, "Sir Dent--she is allowed to do this to others but they cannot bring her out?  That doesn't seem fair to me.  It just gives her permission to spread crap like that even more so.

The hub that was flagged by me was written only as a personal attack against Carrie. The title of it was "Carrie Bradshaw: Just Another Indoctrinated Coward".

HubPages is an information site. Personal hubs are a detriment to the site as a whole and do not belong here.

Emails are another matter. I am sure if you were to just ask Carrie to not email you, she would comply.

    A few points from admin:

    1) A hub cannot be taken down by a user.  A staff member must review and moderate a move for it to be unpublished.  Hubs written as personal attacks are against our terms of use, and will be removed when they come to our attention.

    2) You are free to set your contact options to disallow people from contacting you through the email form.  You can also choose not to respond to any emails you receive through that system.  You may report emails that you think are an abuse of the system through the link at the bottom of the email.

    3) As far as comments, you can deny any you do not wish to appear on your hubs.  If there are any violations of the terms of use occuring in your comments (such as personal attacks), please deny them and email me with a link to the hub so I can take appropriate action.

    4) Disagreements on religion or politics do not count as personal attacks, unless they contain hate speech or discriminatory speech against a particular group.  Calling a group a cult or disagreeing with their beliefs do not count as hate speech.

    5) This thread is now closed, because it has turned into personal attack.  Please do not air personal problems with individual hubbers in the forums.  Once again, email me at team(at)hubpages(dot)com if there are violations of the terms of use occuring.
