We're (almost) all in the hubpages game for traffic and money.

What do you class as a successful hub for you? How many views a day, month, year? Or is it when a hub makes a certain amount of money?

And what about amazon and eBay?

Or does something else mean to you a hub is a success?

It'd be great to know what standards other hubbers set for themselves

Any hub that gets daily search engine traffic, no matter how little, to me is a success. Daily traffic adds up over time. And that is all I ask. Same with the Q&A.

I have no set number of views, or Amazon sales, etc. to indicate a successful hub.
I apply the 80/20 principle to my account.  In my case that means 12.2 of my hubs receive the bulk of traffic/impressions.  If that remains constant for me, I feel my hubs are doing well.  And it stays fairly consistent with those hubs.
My main focus is not money, but it is nice to receive those payout emails.  It's more that what I write gives the searcher what they're looking for.  For those hubs that don't receive as much traffic, I'm happy as long as they are found in the search engines.   For the 20% that produce most of my traffic,  I like when I see global searches and social media shares.  I'm very close to 300,000 views and while that may not sound like a lot to more prolific hubbers, I'm thrilled to see the 80/20 principle in action.

I write comedy, so if it doesn't get any comments or shares, I know it bombed.

I write for me and I really like when I get a comment about how great info and advice for that #1 hub.
I also like having fans also. I have 260 and I would like to have 300 fans. It would make me feel better about myself.
Sure I would like more money, like $200/month would make me feel good about myself but I'm nowhere near that. I now

But writing with improvement with Hubs where I can edit long after published let me fix things and still
get some spare  change from Hubs.

    I'm a work in progress,

For me, I love when people leave comments.  Also when they give it a useful, interesting, funny, or other mark like that.
While getting traffic & views is nice, the appreciation from those who actually read it is what really sticks with me.  It lets me know I'm writing quality hubs.

Must be just me that judges a hub by traffic and money earned!

I've found that if a hub is detailed it actually limits comments so renders that means of judging quality as not useful.

Surprised more are not after the money. Is that because many on here struggle to target hubs for search engine traffic?

I go with both Cycling Fitness and Mom Kat here.

If a hub can average one view a day, I'm OK with it.  Ten a day and I'm happy; 30 or more and I'm ecstatic.

At the same time, comments can mean a lot.  Some time ago a student in a trade school wrote me that he had a test coming up on the subject, my hub explained things better than his instructor ever did and thanked me for the hub.  A few days later he wrote again, telling me that he had aced the test and thanking me again.  It made my day.

That particular hub is one of my better earners, but if it wasn't I would leave it there forever anyway, just because of that students comments.

I guess it depends on people's reasons for posting on here - to make money from the hub, for seo or for pure artistic outlet.

I'm a complete newbie to this and in awe of those of you with hundreds of followers and hubs, like one of the other posters I'm delighted with 1 or 2 views a day.  A successful hub for me is one I don't cringe at when reading back!!
