Meeting a fellow hubber face-to face.

   I had a reason to be in Sacramento , CA last weekend and emailed  hubber ,Arlene V. Poma, to ask if we could get together.
   She made the effort to meet me there, and we had an opportunity to talk, in person, for maybe an hour or an hour and a half-- not sure, because the time flew.
   We talked about HubPages, hubbing and our  other writing adventures-- It was a great experience. Neither of us had met another hubber in person before.
   I  already knew she was a very, very good writer and felt as if I had known her for a long time. I hope I didn't talk her ear off. She is a very nice person and it was a special experience.
   
   Have you ever met another hubber in person-- that you didn't know before?

   Rochelle, I was so flattered that you took the time to email me with the information about your visit to Sacramento.  After meeting you, I could have kicked myself for not spending more time with you because I was so worried about the Robbers Fire and how that would pan out. 
   
   You are so approachable and interesting, and I could have spent hours picking your brains!  Our writing paths are similar since we both wrote for newspapers.  Sacramento/Northern California has many Hub authors, but you are the first one I've met.  Gut feeling?  I felt this extreme need to meet you in person--even for a short time.  I would encourage Hubbers to meet.  You never know how much another writer can inspire you!

      I had read  and liked several of your hubs, and -- oddly enough-- had a dream that I met you in person. That was sort of weird, so I thought... why not?
      I heard that the fire was coming under control.. so I hope your Mother-in-law and her neighbors are feeling more secure.

   Not yet...the two hubbers I met this summer were family    However, I will be meeting with other Hubbers soon and have enjoyed an ongoing email between several.

      That's great-- I think it is something that makes you feel like sticking around a little longer.
      It also proves that  many of these virtual friends are actually real people, and not just a part of an elaborate hoax.

         I don't think I ever thought of this site as being part of a hoax.  I have always gotten good vibes from this site re: it being legit and community minded in a positive way.  I find it amazing and delightful to be able to meet people from all over this world who have one thing, at least, in common: writing.  Cool huh?

   I was sort of kidding about the 'hoax'-- but  how do you really, really know?
   Are the Angry Birds and those game characters that people interact with real or not??

   Being writers, a lot about our personalities can be revealed through our writing.  I have exchanged emails with a few Hubbers, and I do feel that I know them.  I wouldn't mind meeting them.  Unfortunately, you really don't know how these meetings will turn out.  If a person pretends to be someone else online, it could be a disappointment when you meet them.  My husband has been playing this online game for years, and has been communicating with a handful of cyber friends who also play this game.  We met one of his cyber friends, but he sure had everyone fooled.  Online, he was one of the funniest guys.  But when we met him at the restaurant, he was already drunk.  It turned out that he was so insecure about the meeting that he needed some "liquid courage" to see himself through.  We had dinner, and he had liquid!  This is what I don't like about the Internet.  When you can't observe a person's behavior in the flesh, they can be anyone they want to be online.

   I met up with Relache when she visited Glastonbury the week before last. I picked her up in Bristol on Thursday afternoon, drove to Glastonbury and we had dinner together. On Friday, we wandered round the place all day and had dinner again in the evening.
   
   I had a fabulous time and think she enjoyed it as well. We talked a bit about hubbing, and about loads and loads of other things.

   A shared passion makes things click!  We all have HubPages in common, but writing alone covers so many territories.  I'm glad you had such a successful meeting and had a wonderful time.  I love to travel, so I'm sure you really helped her out by showing her around.  Nothing like having a native for a tour!

   We still laugh about this particular meeting.  This guy spent all his waking hours playing an online game, and of course, it looked like he didn't get out much.  LOL!  When I first started writing for HubPages, you took the time to email me with some tips.  I may not remember where I put my keys, wallet or glasses, but I do remember when someone takes the time to help me.  This, I am grateful for!

   Yes i met a couple of lovely ladies last year and the meeting was for a coupkle of hours. Sadly we 3 have not kept up contact since. But i am planning a meet for later this year. We will see what happens.

    The parole officer i work with here at the prison has warned me not to try to contact any Hubbers once I get out unless, I can confirm they have never been in trouble with the law.
    
    That being said, if there is anyone here who would like to meet up, can you please provide me with a written affidavit which clearly states you are clear?

       Actually, Arlene Poma  is a retired prison guard, so I think she is safe.
