Hub Skins

   I'm wondering if Hub Pages will eventually allow people to create their hub pages with differently themed "skins" or backgrounds relevant to their hub. I think if a couple of web designers could create some neat style sheets that people could use on their own hub pages, it would help some of the pages standout and look better.
   
   Is this something that is in the works?

   Do you mean like background textures and pictures?
   
   If so, I don't like that idea. Makes things ahrd to read when you come to websites like that. I'd be a real turn off.

      I agree, Good Hubs stand out on their own we do not need all the background juice. I think it is a distraction.

   Hubpages is a nice thoughtful community, simple yet full of great hubs and hubbers. That's why it is so special, not like any other site, so let's keep it that way.

   Skins are a bit too "average" for my liking. I think the current layout is good - it's consistent. I like to make my hubs look good with good content rather than background fluff.

   Honestly, have you SEEN some of the myspace layouts available?  Some of them take 30-40 seconds to load, and I'm on a corporate network (which means super highspeed.)  I shudder to think of the kinds of things spammers would throw around, much less the terrible things that would happen if, say, a hubber added music to their pages.  Eww.

    I think the skins would take to much away from the hubs. I like MySpace but to many people use these backgrounds with no thought and all there text is extremely hard to read. HubPages serves a different purpose anyways.

    One aspect about HubPages that I find incredibly refreshing IS that there is literally AIR to breathe - when you click on any HUB..  and SPACE - which then requires each author on a level playing field - to then CREATE - independently upon that beautiful fresh palate!
    
    Combined with great content - this is a way for individual authors to 'see' the differences in each others works.  I love this. 
    
    Click on one Hub and although at first glance it may seem 'plain' - it allows all to very quickly - without a bandage (skin) actually determine IF they are going to receive the work of a true author versus a spammer, etc...
    
    For me personally - even to change our basic background to an off-white would be a very poor decision...  IMHO.
    
    It is to me - one of the very de-LIGHT-FUL aspects of HubPages... and one of the reasons that I personally - was drawn to HP.
    
    The current layout and theme of HP is a good atmosphere in maintaining a very slick magazine-like feel and a professional appearance to HubPages. 
    
    Yes - the uniformity on this basic foundation is very much a part of the eye appeal that people experience when first finding HP - and wanting a continuing relationship overall with many here.
    
    This is a place online that is fresh to the eye - and that is good.  Clean, sharp and modern are what HP is about and I really feel that this is what sets HubPages apart from any other place like it online.

    I enjoy the layout of Hubpages, and how the content of each individual hub speaks for itself rather than relying on the color scheme or custom graphics to create a mood.  I think the content should speak louder than anything else.  Hubpages as a site succeeds in showcasing content, rather than flashy graphics.  I like it.

    I agree with all the comments. HubPages looks good the way it is. It's very professional looking while at the same time allowing a variety of layouts and design complementing  the subject matter. I hope there will be no major changes in that regard in the foreseeable future.

    I enjoy change when change is good, but when it comes to hubpages I prefer it the way it is. The pages load fast, the format is very polished.

    Generally, I'd prefer not to have skins. However, I think if style sheets are done well that HP could continue to have beautiful, clean pages AND provide a unique look.
    
    That said, I don't feel too strongly for it. I just felt bad that the OP asked a question and everyone said no.
