Christians, Don't Let your Pastors tell you how to Vote!

   There are some Pastors, actually telling their members not to vote.  They don't agree with Obama's stand on Gay rights, and abortion, or they don't like Romney because he is a Mormon.  You only have one vote, and it belongs to you and NOT your Pastor!

      Right! I've never been a member of a church where the pastor told us how to vote. I don't think I'd like such a church.

         I agree habee, It doesn't work very well trying to tell me what I should do.  Even Pastors!  Teach me how to pray, teach me how to love God and my neighbor, but don't try to control my political views!

               Pastors have no crediabilty to begin with and I have zero respect for them. If I ever hear pf a pastor telling their members who to vote for, I'll snitch them off to the IRS in a heartbeat. See how fast the church loses their tax exempt status.

      Pastors don't have the moral right to tell anyone not to vote.  They'd actually have more right to tell their congregation how to vote (how they should vote anyway).  Because the Bible will indeed make that clear if anyone would listen.   I think a lot of people including Pastors are staying silent when they should be taking a Biblical stance on these issues instead of worrying about who might get offended inside or outside of the church.  Pastors, like politicians, should actually LEAD instead of whitewashing the laws of God.

      Also, people should remember that it's not just the Candidate that we vote for.   It's a set of principles, a thing called a Platform that any nominee is supposed to stand on and be held accountable to.   
      I think it's really bad that any Pastor would tell someone to give up their rights as a citizen.   
      Honestly, there needs to be reform in the Democrat Party's vetting process.   I'm beginning to think that Party has decided to take over, period.   There's no way it should've been allowed to even nominate someone who veered so far Left of Constitutionality.

      God is telling us, "Let your king save you! Sure, vote for that guy all you want. It isn't going to stop what is written in Revelation."
      
      Voting doesn't change peoples hearts and minds, only God can do that.

   I would say that the vast majority of Americans, upon reaching the age of 18, have developed critical thinking skills to choose whom to vote for, or not to vote for, if at all. The right to vote for whom you choose for is also the right to vote if you choose to. If they agree with their pastor, they are probably not doing it blindly; chances are, they share the same morals and beliefs with the community they choose to worship with.

   Fact is, no one should tell you whether or not to vote, nor whom to vote for, nor how to vote on specific issues.  I was raised with the understanding that my vote is MY business.  I need not share it with anyone, including those I'm close to.  As far as pastors being concerned about offending someone - they ought not be making their votes public, nor using their pulpits to campaign.

      I agree Motown2Chitown!  It is not the pastor's job to try to influence people to vote a certain way but allow people to vote as God leads them.   I still don't know how my parents voted.  They would never tell us!  My vote, my business!   Good saying Motown!

   Is it realistic to follow the advice of pastors who are telling people not to vote this year? Would these pastors let their bathrooms or kitchens overflow because the plumbers they contacted could not meet some holiness litmus test?  Would they suggest their parishoners remain unemployed because they can't find a Christian boss? Voting is just another decision we make and a responsibility we take as we live for Jesus. The choices are secular institutions who have different visions as to where we should lead our country.We are responsible to take into account the Lord's vision for our nation and make a decision based upon that which is before us. Study scripture, pray, fast and then VOTE.

   Oh but there's more. A local clergy, (down state Illinois) Roman Catholic Bishop  John Paproki suggested that we endanger the plight of our souls if we vote for certain canidates of a certain political party. How about that?

   And everyone needs to know that there is one other candidate who is on the ballot in all 50 states -- Gary Johnson, Libertarian.
   
   Frankly, both Obamney and Rombama scare me. Why? Because they're both for,
   * More war
   * More fiscal insanity
   * More tyranny
   
   Every since 9/11, there has been a massive increase in the number of legislation tearing down the Constitution.
   
   Now, police or government agents can enter your house without a warrant and you don't even have to be there. Now, the military can detain American citizens indefinitely -- no charges, no attorney, no trial, no phone call. And now, it's a felony to protest what the government does (HR 347). Kind of ruins what America is all about. Looks like Congress and the last 2 presidents have betrayed their Oaths of Office -- destroying the Constitution they swore to protect.
   
   It also bothers me that many "Christian" pastors are not following Christ, either. Each one has their own "interpretation" of scripture, but some is clearly wrong. Example: 6 years ago, before coming to the Philippines, I went to a Christmas party at my brother's house in Phoenix, Arizona. One of his friends has recently been "saved." His pastor said that he could now do anything he wanted to and he was still saved. This greatly relieved the young man, because in his business he liked to cut corners and cheat people. He wanted to be perpetually forgiven for his perpetual greed. Anyone who believes this needs to read their Bible a bit more carefully -- looking for the spirit of the word, not the letter of it.
   
   So, I would look seriously at any pastor's recommendations and measure them against the spirit and meaning of scripture, rather than their mortal interpretation.

      Though I am not promoting any candidate, my point is that people should study the facts, and choose the person who they feel is going to lead the country in a healthy and as peaceful as possible direction. (Dem, Rep, or Ind.)  I really don't have  problem with Americans suspected of terrorism like, Timothy McVeigh, being held indefinitely.  Better safe than dead!  As far as the Pastor that teacher Eternal Security, it is a real shame that men and women are taught this lie.  Believers are responsible for their own salvation and have to read the scripture for ourselves.  If it doesn't sound right, don't receive it.  As God for understanding by his Holy Spirit.  On NDAA.  http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/politi … 034154.php
