Okay, so as a real Texan (born here and lived here all my life), I am amazed at how hot it really has become in the summer. I can remember it raining every day in the summer time and then having the humidity about knock you down. Now we have gone 20+ days without a drop of rain. That never used to happen. I feel at times I need to jump from one shadow to the next while crossing the yard in the hopes on not being scorched by the blazing sun.
Anyone else feeling the heat?
How hot is hot where you live?
Where I am in Texas, we have been over 100 with the heat index for the past week!!
I am a mississippian and it is hotter than hades! No wind, complete humidity and heat index of 105...its hot!
Now, I have lived in Jerusalem and it has been 120 degrees there, but it felt like it was 85/90 degrees at the most...but here it is so so so hot!
FLA its been 90+ and also been over 100 with the heat index
Humidity is thick but I love the heat I'm coldblooded
I am right here with ya. It is hard to go outside, for anything, before 8 pm.
I'm from Texas also, but I live in Arizona and boy it's HOT! It's 97 degrees right now and that's considered a nice day.
Seems rain got diverted to New York. It's been raining here for the last 10 days. Today we had respite finally. Too much of rain can also be disgusting at times.
Thanks for the response. My husband is from Buffalo, New York and we have been hearing about the cooler temps and the rain. Try to stay dry.
I'm in Georgia and I'll tell you what, OMG! It's been HOT hot here. heat index at 100 degrees for the last five days or more and so humid that if anyone has breathing problems, it's being advised they stay indoors 24/7.
wow that is hot...I know the feeling of not being able to breath. We are watching the grass die a slow painful death.
Yep, I'm in Augusta. I had to register for school on June 19th and it was the hottest day of the year in GA. With heat index, 108 they said.
I'm in South Florida. At the beginning of the summer it rained for like 3 weeks straight... then for the last week, rain in the afternoons and really high temps. Around 98-99 for the highs and 85% humidity. You melt when you walk outside!
Jealous of me melting? Or jealous that I was at the beach today?
BOTH!!! I love melting..especially at the beach!! I keep saying I should ahve been born in the south...
Oh the beach is nice and cold compared to where i live in the south...at the beach you always have a breeze...where i live there is no breeze...it is like being put into an oven...your house hardly cools off...you can't get your car to cool off...its the humidity...humid heat is a hundred times worse than dry heat
Sounds like you should have! Beach was nice, really hot, but a nice breeze. Manatees doin' it in the water again
oh those sea cows....now theres an evolved species!!
Yeah lately they have been coming into shore and mating. It's pretty funny to see the little kids pointing. The life guards stood in the water the first time, keeping people away from them. But now people are used to them and just leave them alone. Its just funny that they're putting on a show for us. Such amazing animals. In Melbourne I've gone and fed them heads of lettuce.
Oh, guys! You simply have not experienced real hotness. Try 110-120 in Phoenix on for size.
We're not quite there yet... And mid July comes the Mexican Monsoon.
But that is a different kind of heat Lita. That's dry desert heat. 99 degrees with almost 100% humidity doesn't feel to great either!
For a good dose of hot try Nagoya or Chengdu in the summer. That's rough.
I moved to Portland, OR from St. Louis, MO (the midwest in the U.S.). Hated the heat and humidity there, just an awful, smothering combination. It's relatively dry here, but you'll find me complaining in the mid 80's now. I have turned into the biggest wimp. It's very sad.
this summer has been absurd. the jet stream is all wonky and our weather pattern has been running in reverse.(el nino?) I adore summer, love the heat and humidity, and its been 50 to 60 degress and RAINING every day for over 2 weeks now. I love rain, but COME ON!! Our summers are so short as it is, and our winters so harsh...ugh...I would be more than happy to share some of this rain with you if I could.
I'm in the mountains of Wyoming, and there was frost on the roofs this morning.
It's 4.30 pm in central London. Clear blue sky, nice sunshine, 75 degrees F, and 35% humidity.
May and June are not the best time here in San Diego, California. It's called May grey and June gloom. Water and air currents changing over causing heavy marine fogs, moderate humidity and much cloudiness. Inland areas east of San Diego can get warm at this time, and we do get periodic clearing mid-day for a few hours. Yesterday, the clouds parted around 11 a.m. and it was beautiful with 70 degrees and 15mph winds. Managed to grab a bit of tanning....
Dry heat, wet heat - heat is heat, and if you have ever experienced the non-stop, soul-parching winds of Southern Alberta, you will understand how the Hoodoos came to be. You can Google them - Hoodoos, Alberta, Canada
Now "hot" is something else, entirely. Hugh Jackman in the film Australia - now that's "HOT"
I'm in Connecticut. Back in May we had a few 90 degree days. Since then, it's been 50's and 60's and rainy and gray with the occasional 70 degree day here or there. It's been pretty much like living in Seattle.
I served in the Arabian Gulf, and on specific occasions, our boots' soles would easily melt once we went outside from an A/C'd space.
After a couple of hours in the sun, we would return inside, then our boots' soles would crack down the middle because of the cooler temperatures! The hottest I've experienced was 141 degrees. NOW THAT WAS FRIIIKKKKIIINNN' HOTTT!
The Washington DC area is just getting cranked up. We do 90's with 90% humidity in July and August. I would rather have that than anything below 60 degrees; I hate cold weather.
I can take the heat... I just dread the upcoming hurricane season. I was 10 months pregnant during Ike, and was left without power for 2 weeks. It was 100+ degrees and humid at night. I thought I was going to go nuts... Maybe, I did.
I live in downtown SJ, so hot here is like 85. Everyone is going to hate me when I say I just ate lunch outside because the weather is so nice .
I'm with the other North Easterners who have been living with no sunlight coming in the window for - what - three months now? (A couple of weeks is more realistic, but it feels like three months.) We're wearing sweaters a good part of the time because it's been 50 a good part of the time.
Today we're getting a few hours of sun and perfect temperature (high 60's, I think) before the downpours begin again for another night. A lot of us wouldn't mind just a little of that Texas sun at this point.
I have lived in both Florida and now Arizona. Both offer different kinds of heat. Florida offers the heat that when you walk out the door it hits you like a rock. You can cut the humidity with a knife. Arizona has heat that tends to suck the life out of you slowly. You begin walking around and slowly you begin wearing down. Sweat rolls off of every nook and cranny.
April, we had 90 degree weather.
MAY was cooler
June was WET WET WET.
Finally, We are in July and we expect the heat it's ok. (whew)
So, Welcome To New Jersey!!!
I actually love hot weather, and ninety degree is not at all that hot to me. I can even walk three miles in 90-100 degree weather with a good supply of water. People think I am just making that up when I say it, but the truth is I am not a big fan of cold weather. I lived in the desert where the average daily summer temp was between 116-120 some days, and that was even at night! I really do not like it that hot, but the 90's are fine by me. In the summer I only turn on the air conditioning to cool things down a bit, and then turn it right off. I literally have to step outside of air conditioned building every few hours or I will freeze.
This is my first summer in South Carolina and I swear I was a pineapple in another life.
The humidity is unbelievable
I change my answer... Galveston on the 4th of July... Hell has never been as hot.
Having lived in Texas, I don't miss the scorching heat!
I'm back in Canada, and it's hot, humid and wet where I am. I love it! Perfect balance at this time of year. I'm lucky and smiling!

So quiet outdoors.Yes, yesterday was 111 F. Thermometer in the shade of the carport says 100 right now. It's been too hot for too long. Since first of June. Not enough rain, very very little. Dead grass...crunchy underfoot. I worked 2 hours yesterday which involved getting...

It's like 100 degrees again. This is getting ridiculous. NO real rain since.....when? I don't remember. The grass is crunching under-foot. The chickens are panting. I filled up 4 water troughs for the cows and my horse. The pond is getting really low. The wind is blowing a hot breeze. And the...

Woo Hoo! It's hoovering at 59 degrees and is supposed to stay in the 60s all day in San Antonio. This likely related to our rain the last couple days. Perfect writing weather right? What a nice little reprieve after 40+ days hitting 100+ degrees this summer, and 90s to 100s since. ...

Do you wear sandals when it's raining outside?

Recent studies indicate that even if the Paris Accords are successful, Sydney may find itself with temperatures of 50 degrees (122F). "Major Australian cities, such as Sydney and Melbourne, may experience unprecedented temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius under 2 degrees of global...
