      Healthcare is a crappy issue to talk about.
      
      Do you insure everyone? That upsets people. Do you not insure everyone? That upsets people.
      
      Yet, that's what we go on about and fight about, without ever actually looking at the reasons for the cost of healthcare, or what we can do to lower costs.
      
      We need to take a page out of Obama's debate performance, and look at private sector innovation that provides better care for less cost.
      
      Then we need to increase competition, and reduce unneeded regulations.
      
      Then we need to go after the entire rest of the freaking world that stiffs America with the bill for pharmaceutical research.
      
      And we need to teach our people that our diets are what cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars, and years of our lives. The grains, sugars, fats, and preservatives we pump into our bodies are not good for us.
      
      In all reality, we could probably cut our healthcare costs down by 80%, if the government would do it's job, and our citizens would take care of themselves.

      "AARP has never consented to the use of its name by any candidate or political campaign," Hishta said.
      
      "AARP is a nonpartisan organization, and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party."
      
      AARP is losing conservative members because they now have some competition... They can't claim they are against O's healthcare since they have been on the inside at the beginning.

            I know, I was just pointing out that the title says "AARP tells Obama to stop..." when the body of the article says what I quoted, that  "AARP has never consented to the use of its name by any candidate or political campaign,"   So to slant it as a hit on Obama is misleading when they are telling both candidates and all political parties the same thing.

      lt bothers me that people bash AARP...this is the ONLY organization around that stands up for the rights of senior citizens.  Yes, they want to remain partisan...however, they have published info many times that relates to their support of the AHCA...and they do this because this is a great program.  There are 50 million senior citizens in the US...most belong to AARP and use their excellent products.  Those few who dump out from this group are only harming themselves.  I personally use their Medigap  plan and have never had a problem getting them to pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars I have needed them to pay.  Until you really understand who they are, don't be so quick to bash.  They have simply asked to not have any politician use their name, but they know this is impossible when they have taken a stand on an issue as important as Obamacare.  Personally, I'm glad they did.

   It also says State run Medicaid would deprive thousands (people who need it the most) coverage. That states don't have the revenues to support Medicaid and medicare. And Romney wants to put it in the hands of governors?

   AARP is an opportunistic and predatory corporation. This is disgustingly arrogant to demand that a sitting president stop citing them, if this claim is true. Their Medicare RX program needs an Attorney General's investigation, given some of their shenanigans.
   
   I will never sign up for them again.

      Yay! We agree on something! Of course, he's going to cite them. Didn't they have a lot of input on the ACA? They'll benefit from it, from what I've read, but now they want to distance themselves from it. I don't think that's fair.

   They took a lot of criticism and likely a lot of hits on their endorsement of Obamacare.  That singular move on their behalf essentially aligned them with the Obama Administration.  They might have given that some thought before they jumped on board.  Now they want to disassociate while the uphold his policies behind the scene....sounds a bit like they might be two faced.  ~WB

      I'll agree they care, but they're repeating what they've heard. Next generation who don't understand there are people in this country who need help? That many depend on welfare(even though they work), get disability checks (no fault of their own), retirees depending on SS, People needing an unemployment check (jobs lost no fault of their own), and people really needing Obamacare (an affordable insurance policy to secure their well being). Yes, I agree in life, liberty and the pursuit happiness! But listening to those children make me better understand schools are failing if these children think all social programs are bad!

         The thing many folks simply do not want to believe, or possibly fail to understand. Obama care is not affordable for the middle class Americans that will end up paying the bills. No fault of their own!

   I signed off on AARP when they endorsed Obamacare and so did thousands of other seniors. I keep signing "deceased" on all the junk mail AARP sends me and they still keep sending it -- guess they're looking for all the help they can get from either the living or the dead!
