    Hi All:

I took a quick look and didn't see anything about this recently, so I thought I'd throw it out there. I've noticed that over the last few reported days my CPM appears to be down almost 35%. Now, these earnings still need to be audited so I suspect they could change, but I didn't know if anyone else was experiencing this.

    Best,

    Max.

      I see the same thing.

Me, too. The fact that it's happening to a lot of people suggests there will be an adjustment after the audit. At least I hope so!

My, my, something is really going on. I'm just trusting my instincts for now, but I have a feeling that this is having to do with Google losing money with Motorola and the overall advertising business. It's in the news. Sad that I am getting so much negative feedback from Hubbers regarding earnings for the past few weeks.  I will keep checking it out and share some findings, if I find any. Wish us all luck! We're all in this together. We are a big, big webspace for writers.

I too see my CPM down by about 50% though the views are up, the last 3 days.

Mine has dropped by 50%.  The last 2 days have been less than $3.  On a good day it used to be $7.  Its a shame because my traffic isn't too bad (lets hope it gets adjusted upwards!)  I wonder if this has something to do with the delay in posting these figures? sad

It's really demotivating to see my views reach some of the highest levels ever and at the same time see my earnings for them go down by way, way more than 35%.

What am I missing here?  I'm only showing one day (the 21st) with finalized earnings and while it went down some it was only about 10%.  Normal daily fluctuations for me.

All the others are still pending, and we KNOW they are wrong; might as well ignore them for the good they do.

Yep me too, was horrified when I noticed my earnings for past few days.  Massivly down, hope it recovers very soon!

And here too, my hub views have been at their peak the last week or so but this isn't reflected in the earnings, down 50% here. Earnings are still being finalised, it may change. ebay earnings are still good, amazon barely registers.

I know what you mean, Steve. I was lucky enough to have one of my hubs linked to from a couple (relatively) popular web pages and had more than 10 X my normal daily views on two occasions, only to see the CPM drop during those same periods. Disappointing, but still made a decent amount (who would think a few dollars a day would count as "decent"?). smile

I know David, looking at it from another perspective we are fighting over a few pennies which is funny and sad at the same time. As my old man would say 'get a proper job!' smile

I am or was earning five times what I was earning at HP a year ago and with five times the views too, And I was hoping to double that next year. I'm curious to see what happens. Its not boring thats for sure.

Yeah it looks like I'm in the same boat. I have lost more than 35% though and it continues to slide.

  9. Lauryallan profile image70
    Lauryallanposted 11 years ago

Income figures just been updated here and now my CPM is less than 50% of my normal average value. I've never seen CPM's this low. Seriously wondering why I am still here. None of the recent events make sense on here to me anymore.

I'm seeing the same thing and it is shocking, considering how high my already-audited Saturday HP earnings were, and how much my regular adsense earnings from HP jumped during those days. I would have thought the HP earnings would show the same trend.

Sadly, I don't think they will be changed, but I hope they will.

I hope so, too. We should get some perks for the hard work we do supplying content, err, hubs

I noticed the income for the month had gone up on the stats page and thought "Good!  They've finally added one more day, and a good one, too!"  Until I looked and found it was for TWO days, not one.

Yeah, CPM's are down about 50% for the last few days, but are also still pending.  Seen this before, and it usually corrects upwards when everyone is seeing the same thing; it's like HP is missing one or two of the advertisers reports still.  Of course, having said that it will probably go down.

  12. Isabella Snow profile image86
    Isabella Snowposted 11 years ago

That used to be the case, but the last time everyone discussed a similar string of strangely low earnings,  the earnings stayed that way.

One can always hope, I guess.

  13. andyoz profile image87

I noticed Sundays earning just jumped up a little and are now confirmed, that's very good news.  Maybe the other two days will take a similar jump when they are confirmed.

That is not much compared to how abnormally low they were to begin with.

Glad I found this thread as I too have noticed this. My views for Monday and Tuesday were particularly high compared to how they have been in recent months, and even Wednesday was good, but my earnings were down by about 25-30% from what I would have expected for that level of views. Instead of being into double figures for each day, they are several dollars away from that. Yes the figures are still showing as 'pending', but somehow I doubt they will be adjusted. It seems very odd and I can't help wondering what on earth is going on with HP's 40% and when they are taking it!!

My patience is being tested. According to My Hub Statistics, I've had more than 200 views each day for the last week (7 day total 1800). Kind of "meh" but it's been slow. Now, I realize I can't reliably calculate Impressions from Views because we don't know how many Views are thrown out and the timeframe isn't known for 24-hours vs the Impression date. Yesterday, I'd say I had about 250 views (ie, it didn't go below that and this morning I'm still at 261.

According to pending Ad Program Earnings for yesterday, my impressions were 61! The prior 6 days impressions which have been extraordinarily poor in and of themselves:

                    Imp.    CPM        $$$
    Wed, Oct 24, 2012    61    $4.26    $0.26*
    Tue, Oct 23, 2012    171    $2.78    $0.47*
    Mon, Oct 22, 2012    147    $2.79    $0.41*
    Sun, Oct 21, 2012    179    $3.69    $0.66
    Sat, Oct 20, 2012    182    $4.62    $0.84
    Fri, Oct 19, 2012    123    $4.93    $0.61
    Thu, Oct 18, 2012    194    $4.90    $0.95

WTH? I looked for the last time I had such poor earnings and impressions. I had to go back to May 27. Not only that THEY WERE ALMOST THE EXACT SAME NUMBERS:

    Sun, May 27, 2012    61    $4.28    $0.26

I also noted that with the plunging of my Impressions, my CPM had climbed from 2.78 the day before to 4.28.

Sure they're pending, but, lately, those pending figures haven't changed significantly if at all.

I'm now seriously watching what is going on and my patience is wearing thin. This sort of thing is sapping my hub-producing energies.

  17. andyoz profile image87
    andyozposted 11 years ago

Same here, according to all my sources my views were normal yesterday but my impressions were half of what they should have been!  That's very odd.

  18. profile image0
    EmpressFelicityposted 11 years ago

I'm having the same problem - when I compare my ad program readings to my actual views in Google Analytics, my impressions for Wednesday were just over half what they should have been. Something is wrong here, I think.

  19. UnnamedHarald profile image92
    UnnamedHaraldposted 11 years ago

Well then, even though previous "pendings" haven't changed things, this might be one of those times. Fingers crossed that I spoke too soon. I will update here whatever happens.

  20. mistyhorizon2003 profile image88
    mistyhorizon2003posted 11 years ago

Right now for Sunday through to Wednesday (4 days worth of earnings) I am showing about what I would have expected to earn in about 2.5 days of earnings based on the views I received. All of those are pending apart from Sunday. At least one of those days (Wednesday I think) is the lowest I have earned in any one day for about a year. I really hope these figures are a mistake and they are altered to be considerably higher.

It could be that people are simply no longer willing to pay decent prices for advertising on HP.

It might be worth trying to only run Adsense and see if there is an improvement in your earnings.

EmpressFelicityposted 11 years agoin reply to this

I'm sure you're right, but why the discrepancy between HP's impression count and Google Analytics' one? My 60% share of impressions on Wednesday according to HP came to way less than 60% of my overall views according to Analytics.

Where are you getting your figures for "My 60% share of impressions on Wednesday according to HP"?

Wednesday is totally wrong with my views being half what they actually were and the CPM is too low.  Thursday (recently posted) looks more 'normal'.

  24. andyoz profile image87

My earnings for mon and tues have just jumped up by around 25%.  Wed still looks very odd.

  25. profile image0
    EmpressFelicityposted 11 years ago

Update: now the ad program has assessed my Wednesday earnings as zero. Apart from a few cents of eBay.

EmpressFelicityposted 11 years agoin reply to this

...aaaand now it's gone back up to a non-zero amount again.

Given that the amounts in question aren't big enough to buy a cup of coffee, I think I will go and do something more useful instead.

Mine have now gone up, but the earnings are still only in single figures even though the level of views would normally have resulted in earnings of double figures.

I have one hub that reached 100%  three times this month only but my earnings are definitely lower than the previous when hubs never reached the 100%

  28. Thomas Swan profile image97

They kept getting revised up. The final earnings for those few days (22nd-24th) are now about right for me, maybe a little down.

I would advise waiting until earnings are final before getting worried.
