   Man just look at the titles of these threads people ? I mean really  , dig into the minds of non- religious forum posters and see how shallow they really are !  Probably because So much religion has been "stuffed in there " by all of you  zealots .  Personaly I love it !There is   So much selfishness to point out  and oh so little time !  I'd stay here and argue the need for it but , ........oh yeaa  I have a life.!

   Really? I haven't ever seen a forum anywhere since starting on the web close on 20 years ago where atheists try and convert other people or talk incessantly about their lack of belief in a god. I have, however, witnessed close on 20 years of aggressive prosylitizing Christians taking up virtually every single forum on the web and making it extremely unpleasant for everybody else.

      I don't hate Christians nor do I have a bone of contention concerning any god. If you stopped complaining and listened you might see that it isn't God people have a problem with. Those who insist that they are God create a lot of the problems I run across.
      
      This isn't a team activity. I do get irritated watching people back foolish opinions simply because they come from a fellow Christian, or a fellow atheist. You appear to want to rubber stamp everything anyone who claims to be a Christian says. And bellyache about anything said by what you consider to be an atheist. That attitude will, of course, cause you stress.

   First I am niether ,  Overly religious,  nor -non believing , I'm just open minded enough to recognize where insult is intended !  And there is no more a intended insult than here in almost all of the anti- god threads!  ......Fine don't believe !- but don't hang your distaste for all things " god ",out for others to  have to deal with  purely personal issues with your own lack of spirituality ! Simple ! It seems to me, atheists here  are on the warpath !

   what category do these Atheists fall into? do they still believe in the Power above them? or there Power is substantial to make this world go round? i'm interested to learn more about it...

      Very Good question, I like your honesty.
      
      Put very simply, Atheists do not believe in a power above or a God of any kind. The power of the universe, maybe, the power of humanity, most likely.
      
      Many believers accuse Atheists of having an over inflated ego because we can't except anything above humans to exist. This is simply not the case. Perhaps somewhere out on a distant planet a more intelligent, innovative creature exists, but atheists don't (unlike believers) think humans are all that special. Our ego is just fine, we think we are but another animal on earth, perhaps the most innovative, but perhaps not the most intelligent. We don't (like believers) think we are different from any other animals and we don't think God put us here to rule over the planet. Religion teaches that we are special, but Atheists don't think so. There is nothing wrong with our egos.

    My experience is that atheists proselytize just as much, if not more, than any Christian I have ever known.  The difference is that the purpose of their proselytizing is to promote aggravation. 
    
    Christians can be annoying at times, but save for the televangelists, they mostly mean well.  Their intent is good, even if their delivery sometimes sucks. 
    
    But atheists... brother! 
    
    The intent is to prove how smart they are--that's it.  They are smart, smart, smart and free, free, free and the rest of the world is populated with ignorant, enslaved sheeple.  They provoke and agitate and just generally annoy the hell out of me. 
    
    My ex-husband was an atheist.  I believe in God, maybe not God as conceptualized as the wonderful sky guy the atheists yammer on about all the time, but a God nonetheless. 
    
    I did not go to church.  I did not attempt to convert him.  If I wanted to discuss religion, I talked to my friends.  But still, he knew I believed. 
    
    This is how life was:  Anytime I suffered a tragedy, it wasn't mine, it was his because in his world, he had no "little God" to make everything better but I did--as if my faith in good was some kind of Pollyanna lollipop I sucked anytime I stubbed a toe.  My suffering was never real because of my little God, who I never talked about until provoked.  When my pain wasn't being mocked, my intelligence was.  I cannot tell you how many freakin' time I heard this charming little speech:  "You know, you are, without a doubt, the smartest women I have ever met or probably will ever meet, but really, honestly, this ridiculous belief in that little God of yours just completely belies your intelligence."  Over and over and over and over again. 
    
    Since my belief in God accomodates a belief in atheists, and because I am actually an idiot, I dated another atheist even after all the charm of the first one.  I'm a forgiving sort--my little God likes that about me I think. 
    
    The second atheist was worse than the first.  He was someone I knew in high school who again, had always admired my intelligence.  We connected on facebook and after the initial friending, I never heard a single word from him until he sent me a freakin' five page personal message expressing his personal disappointment over my obvious belief in God.  He knew me, I was special, I was smart, I was me, for crying out loud and apparently in his world his me was just too precious and amazing for God--I was not one of those pedestrians, for crying out loud!  I knew better! 
    
    And what provoked this righteous message? 
    
    Apparently a facebook status I wrote had brought forth all of his ire because it affirmed life, it was optimistic, it spoke of Life as being bigger than our individual selves, it talked about the mystery of the dichotomy of each human being being both completely insignificant and utterly irreplaceable. 
    
    If you can find God in that statement, if you can find the proselytizing, please alert me to it. 
    
    The trouble was, he found God in that statement.  He knew God was there.  The question is, how?  How did that stark raving mad atheist without any belief, much less faith, in God, find God revealed so overtly that he felt the need to harangue me over something he professes isn't there? 
    
    I'm sorry, but I just can't handle atheists anymore.  And yes, I've known more than two.  I've known and had friends with mainstream religion, no religion, alternative religion and I have enjoyed the company of everyone.  But so far, out of around the 20 or more I've known personally, (not counting the scores of online atheist evangelists) only 1 atheist has ever been respectful of me and not made me me want to eat shards of glass and chase them with Clorox rather than be near them. 
    
    I'm sorry.  I'm really angry about this today for some reason.  Oh, I know why.  This was the same time of year that the last atheist I dated, the man who spent his days and nights on Atheist Nexus issuing moral proclamations and dictating how all good people with a moral conscience should behave, saying things like, "That quote about all it take for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing is bull****.  One cannot be good and do nothing." and other wonderful pith professed that he had loved me my entire life, had been waiting for the day he would find me again, had written stories about me (and had) and needed me to come, then, immediately to the other coast whereupon he and I would be married and after months of dating and after months of cautiousness on my part I acquiesced, went to him, whereupon he denied any such thing had ever happened.  I guess I could have been delusional, save for the near novel size amount of letters and emails he'd written.  So much for all that personal responsibility.  But what are you gonna do? 
    
    What I did was return from whence I came, completely brokenhearted.  But that's OK.  I had my little God, my imaginary friend, to take care of everything. 
    
    I still have my little God, thank you very much, and have no plans to surrender my God for anyone, especially not for someone who does even believe. 
    
    I thank God for my little God.  I thank God that my imaginary friend is always with me in my imagination, in my soul, in my heart, and in my spirit. 
    
    Now I'll leave everyone else to continue on with the "Nah-ha" "Uh-huh" and "nanny nanny boo boo" bit.  Me and my little God have got an imaginary holiday party to get ready for.
