   GOP Starting to Rebel Against No-Tax-Hikes Pledge

   With the fiscal cliff looming for the United States, some Republican members of Congress said Sunday they are ready to break a long standing pledge not to raise taxes.
   
   "The only pledge we should be making to each other is to avoid becoming Greece. And Republicans should put revenue on the table," South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said on ABC's "This Week."
   
   Graham's comments followed those by another Republican senator, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, who said last week he'll no longer abide by the pledge.

   I didn't know Republicans actually signed a pledge 20 years ago. Is this going to be a new bi-partisan Congress? I hope both parties are ready to work together for the good of the country now

      It is starting to look like they will look at tax increased that aren't technically tax increases--like removing a lot of rebates and exemptions.

         Yeah they are looking at increased revenue through eliminating some loopholes for the wealthier Americans. However, I should also point out that they will not do either without the Dems doing their part and reducing entitlement spending.
         
         "And on Wednesday, Senate Democratic leaders said no to another Republican priority when they rejected putting any entitlement reforms forward ahead of Friday’s meeting. In fact, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid talked only about what he won’t accept during negotiations—namely, any changes to Social Security."
         
         Compromise is not in the Dems vocabulary. They are playing bully, and have stated clearly they are willing to see the US go off the fiscal cliff.

            You are aware, aren't you, that the forums lately are chock full of Dems in full voice that will promptly attack any negative comment about the party with an obvious 100% mandate from the entire American population?  That they are always right (at least for the next 4 years) and must not be judged negatively for anything they do? 
            
            Keep a close eye over your shoulder, and keep your blinders on so that you cannot see their shenanigans and cause to form dangerous complaints.

                  I thought it was very wise.  Crawl into a hole, poking out just long enough to vote when necessary, and keep the mouth shut otherwise.

                     LOL, I'm not a Dem. I'm somewhere to the far left of that.  But it would be constructive to wait for something to happen before going 'I told you so'.

            Ultimately the solution is going to have to include both.  I think any sane politician knows this.  But there will be a lot of face-saving semantics.

      It's quite amusing the GOP is suddenly changing their tax tunes.  I guess the public sending a message can actually influence what does and does not occur in our government.

   I'm actually amazed that we think that in order to reduce  the deficit , that we have to raise taxes in any way ! The problem is not revenues , its about over spending !  Give this government more revenue and it will spend more revenue  ! Simple .    All to often I shake my head at thos who say . "How will we "pay" for tax cuts ,    Heres one for you ! Can you speak Chinese ? You will have to pretty soon ! They will own us !

   And who might these brave, Norquist-bucking gentlemen be?
   Let's review:
   Senators Lindsey Graham (S.C.) Bob Corker (Tenn.) and Saxby Chambliss (Ga.) and Rep. Peter King (N.Y.).
   
   These guys can't stand to be out of the spotlight for five minutes.
   
   Boo hoo. No one wants to hear their hot air about Libya anymore.
   Pivot to taxes.
   Problem solved.
   Cameras rolling again.
