Why are we encouraged to link to other Hub writers posts when the posts keep disappearing when the writer deletes them because they went into hibernation? I'm getting FED UP with this. I stopped looking for HP posts to link to because it has become a waste of time.
Doesn't this seem really anti-productive? Is anyone else no longer linking to anything on HubPages (unless it is their own post)?
I doubt the Zzzzs are going to change. So how about getting rid of the karma and etc since it no longer applies?
I do not use any links unless I have to. I am not in the upper level, elite writers of HubPages. It took me a little while to realize that. In this elite group are authors, designers, builders, medical experts, and so on and on. Do you think these intelligent, gifted writers have ANY THING, anything at all, in common with me???? No. So I saved myself some embarrassment and humiliation by NOT going into their cliques. I just stay where I am wanted.
I don't care who they are. If a post was good, had information I wanted to link to - I would add the link. I like adding links to my posts. I worked a long time for a web directory and it's a habit to find great links. I'm really disappointed in the link rot though. It no longer seems worthwhile linking to Hub posts. THAT just seems bad site management though. Maybe no one considered this when they started the Zzzz thing.
PS- Funny that you think of yourself that way. My impression of you was (and is) very different. You are one of the elite/ favourite writers here for me. Your posts are interesting and you make me laugh. Real laughs, not just being nice stuff.
That Grrrl, thank you. You are very sweet and kind for saying this. But Im what I am. Not elite or aloof. Just me. And I appreciate so much, you saying this kind comment to me. I feel the same way toward you. You are a very colorful, pointed and firm-based writer. I like that. Let's both just be US . . .LOL. And I will do my best to keep you laughing and give you more good stuff as time goes by. Deal??? <3
Hey, That Grrl . . .the ZZZZZZZZZZZ thing is a point of discussion among many hubwriters. I looked at my overall list and they ZZZ'd some of my hubs and sometime I might go back and revamp them, but now, I havent the time.
You may remember, when the link suggestion tool first came out, that several high profile Hubbers questioned it. People like Darkside, Mark Knowles etc - all those people who were very successful at the time. They didn't link to other people's Hubs unless there was a really driving reason to do so - i.e. it had to add considerable value to the content of their own Hub. That would be an unusual event, and you don't need a link suggestion tool to find them.
Some of us listened to their concerns. I did, and I'm glad now - I see others having to constantly go back and edit to remove broken links, and I don't have to worry. It was a silly idea at the time and it still is.
Agree...I wrote a tongue-in-cheek hub a while ago about using the suggest links feature as a tool to end writer's block, because I had found the feature's suggestions were more often hilarious than relevant. I'd written a hub about how to feed a calf; the suggest links tool "suggested" all sorts of hubs about calf length boots and socks. Anyway, I deleted the hub about using suggest links, because the tool stopped working for a while. Now I see all it's doing is highlighting the links already in my hubs. Totally worthless.
I don't use the link suggestion tool. That isn't the point. I find links by searching HP itself, using several versions of my topic keywords. I used to enjoy finding other HP writers to link to. I was picky about which posts I linked to. Of course it has to add something to your own post. Why would you add links for any other reason?
you mean the "suggest links?" At top of the hub? I did that once or twice and a pop-up said I had 100 points in Hub Karma built up, whatever that is, noone at HubPages ever explained it to me. So I quit it. Guess I will find out in the distant future. Peace. KENNETH
I agree. I've only removed links that were broken, but I'm not looking for more to add.
I don't mind linking to other relevant content but I rather link outside of hubpages.
No need to do this. HP adds hubs at the bottom of our hub pages. In fact one writer mentioned that here hub is linked to another author and she did not do it. Then the links she had in her hub, HP put there, not her.
I know about those links. I see them under every Hub post. But, they are not hand picked by me and they are often nothing I would recommend. Sometimes due to quality of the post but more often due to a lack of relevance of the content.
My main point is - it helps other Hub writers to be linked to (when they have content worth linking to). That used to be something HubPages made seem important. But, with the Zzzs that is no longer working. We are losing one of our best ways of promoting our own work and our fellow Hub writers - right on the site itself.
I thought I read on an Seo site that Google does not like the type of links we do on our site. I have stopped doing it. I also have links in slideshow to sites that are off topic. I know a discussion about that subject was hashed over in past.
I looked it up and I am wrong. I think Google now calls subdomains internal and likes internal links. -
HP just caught up to some removed Hubs I had broken links to fix up and down the list I forgot about those whilst removing Hubs
What happens if I have a broken link per hubpages, but it is not broken when I check it out?

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

I had six hubs showing broken links yesterday. I corrected all of them, but two are still showing the broken link icon. And, the edit date hasn't updated. Anyone else seeing this?

Hopefully the right people see this. Here is an idea how to make the new HubKarma score both very useful and beloved by writers on HubPages. Additionally, this would also provide more incentive to Hubbers to link to good hubs thereby giving HubPages what it actually wants from starting...

I have started hubbing recently and want to know what actually hubkarma does . If I link someone else's hub from my own hub will they know it and link back to mine? how can linking to other's hubs be beneficial to me? I also want to find out if your hub karma score can make your hubs appear on the...

I've had links to my own related hubs snipped on several occasions (mostly blatant lists at the end of a hub), but some links have been left in place after several snips. So is it acceptable to include a link to a hub which may be very relevant to the specific content in a section of a hub, if it...
