WTF? Sounds like "The Onion" parody, 'Debt ceiling debate twist: Sen. Mitch McConnell filibusters himself'  but when click on the link the entire page is redacted.

So I googled news to get the info "McConnell was forced to turn around and say "I object" and filibuster his own suggestion. " at http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/news … ter-dems-c

Caught in the act of filibusting himself - OMG!!!!!

"A filibuster is a type of parliamentary procedure where an individual extends debate, allowing a lone member to delay or entirely prevent a vote on a given proposal. It is sometimes referred to as talking out a bill,"

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filibuster

Problem one, there was no bill. There has to be a bill before filibuster can occur. Second problem, Democrats called his bluff. McConnell was saying let's put the bill out there and vote on it. He was counting on Dems to vote no, they called him and he backed down. He did not put the bill out there.

In order for McConnell to filibuster himself as the article claims, he would have to have introduced the bill, then take to the Senate floor and talk forever to delay the vote on that bill.

A filibuster can be initiated once a bill has the floor, but also before, when deciding to even talk about the bill...

That explains why nothing gets done - talking about whether to talk about it!
