      Unless they are batshit crazy, it may mean that what they were responding to was offensive (e.g. bigoted, threatening etc).

      Many people are offended far too easily. I think what it comes down to much of the time is hypocrisy. Everyone wants to be entitled to their beliefs, opinions, and values but doesn't accept the fact that others are allowed to have opposing beliefs, opinions, and values. People need to understand that they have every right to express their opinions and live by their values, but so does everyone else, even if they are not the same!
      
      That being said, I obviously do believe there are times when it is justified to be offended, such as the examples psycheskinner referred to. In the interest of keeping an open mind, however, I have to acknowledge that someone else's idea of what it is justified could easily be very different from mine.

         I think you hit the nail right on the head here. Everyone seems to want to have a say but not hear the other person's say in the matter.

   As much as we'd like to have a 'royal feck what you think' attitude poor conduct is not appreciated nor should be acceptable. People just want a better world and there's no crime in that. Some people say stuff, that can arise from internal emotions manifesting itself verbally or physically or mentally ill abuse from anybody just DOES NOT make for a Peaceful environment. There are differences in having a friendly or civil debate vs arguments

      I don't think the quote is necessarily about people who get offended over bad or abusive comments or conduct, but about those people who like to get offended over even the slightest things and expect everyone to accommodate their "hurt" feelings. Not agreeing with something does not give anyone the right to get "offended" and expect to be handled with kid gloves.

         I agree 100%. I feel the quote is referring to those individuals that DO get offended during what is really a civil debate.

   People can get offended over body odor or a anti- Xmas display (lawn diarama of Jesus with a shotgun and Santa on the ground) or that sculpture of Mickey Mouse, Lenin and Jesus.
   
   How about a zombie santa (yes, google it - hundreds of hits) -  I just made a animation that involves Santa with a Zombie - is it offensive?

   I am offended just kidding my point was to just take a step back and 'check'. Just use our common sense but also be aware, not everybody has control of their senses.
