'Storage Wars' staged, star claims in lawsuit
David Hester says he was fired after saying popular A&E show is fake
    By Tim Molloy
    TheWrap

"Storage Wars" star David Hester says in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that he was fired after complaining that the reality show is staged.

In his lawsuit, Hester contends that the producers of the hit A&E series routinely plant valuable items in the storage lockers seen on the show. Competitors place bids on the lockers without knowing what is inside them, hoping to come across forgotten treasures.

In one case, the lawsuit contends, A&E planted a pile of newspapers reporting Elvis Presley's death. In another episode, according to the suit, a BMW mini car was found buried under trash.

I admit to watching this program and I think I can believe what he is claiming. There are some gems in lots of the garbage units...or maybe he is sour grapes since his business took a nosedive?

I have sometimes wondered at some of the things they find in these lockers

Me too. I think that this is a combination of both. Sour grapes and the producers livening up the lockers. Imagine if it never had anything cool in the lockers. That would make for horrible television. lol..

        Isn't it the truth!

I have only seen episodes of "Storage Wars" in the last couple of months, and I can see why it became number one for A&E. It's definitely quite entertaining. The first few times I saw it, I had no idea where the Yuuuuuup was coming from, and it drove me crazy! Later, as I got to know the characters more, it didn't bother me in the same way but, yes, I think it's super annoying to the point of being funny.

The producers have to stage the show, either by planting valuables or pre-selecting storage units that are known to contain valuables.  If they didn't, all they would show is people bidding on lockers full of coffee cans holding rusty nails, rusted car parts, and broken microwaves. How could that show not be staged? You think the average abandoned locker is filled with gold bricks and blood diamonds and sports cars?

I don't know if I trust his take on it. I tended to think he usually over rated what things he bought were worth.  I know all reality shows are partly staged but I doubt the whole thing is.

Of course some of it's staged.  When I was taping 'Real Nightmares' they actually gave me lines to say (short ones) and had it all planned out.  Told me how to answer questions, blah blah.

David Hester was a bit arrogant anyway with his sense of entitlement.  I'm not surprised he got fired.  Why smear the the kettle that pays you/?

I am sure a lot of the interactions are staged.  But I would be disappointed if they were planting items.  That goes too far.

I know two people who appear on storage wars Texas and was invited to a filming of an episode, I don't think they plant any stuff on that particular show but there is some material that is staged. Nothing important just some interactions between the cast members.
