The writer highlights some chocolate beers he and his wife sampled from the US brewers. I don't think this will win over many...and then again i  may be wrong wink

Sam Adams just came out with their Chocolate Bock as a part of their Winter Collection...and it's AMAZING.

It sounds good to me, as long as it isn't sweet. We have a dark beer in Peru that has chocolate notes. The problem is: it isn't very consistent. Sometimes I buy a bottle and it's dry and delicious. Sometimes it's sweet and "off". So I suppose it all depends on their recipe!

My boyfriend loves this kind of beer! Personally I like to drink amber beers. Chocolate beer is just a little to rich for me smile

I've tried the Southern Tier Chokolat that's mentioned in the article, it's a great beer!  Super chocolaty, rich & creamy... a great beer to drink with dessert!  Ellicottville Brewing Co., Southern Tiers sister company, makes a "Chocolate Cherry Bomb" that is TO. DIE. FOR.  It's an Imperial Stout (8.2 ABV | 32 IBU), served on nitro, that is as drinkable as it is delicious.  I ordered this recently when we passed through for lunch.  The stout pours a thick sturdy head and the aroma prepares you for a rich creamy sip reminiscent of chocolate milk.  I was surprised though, by how quickly the rich aroma gives way to a sweet, smooth taste without the thick mouthfeel I was expecting.  Paired with their BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, it's a great combination of flavors!  I encourage anyone that likes chocolate beers (as well as those that are curious) to try this one.

I've had both a stout and a bock with chocolate. Pretty good, especially in an already dark beer. Another fun one is Founders Breakfast Stout. Chocolate, coffee, and oatmeal. No better way to start the day.

There are plenty of real ales out there (mostly I imagine in England) that have hints of chocolate to them, mostly again Porters will have effects like this to them being that the richer beers tend to get away with richer flavours like choc.

Boulevard Chocolate Ale is one of my all time favorite beers. Has subtle notes of chocolate milk!

I'm one of the minority that hates beer. Chocolate beer is something I would be willing to try, though. wink
