YOU Are DISPOSABLE, Believe It Or Not!

   I know a woman who was employed at a human service company.   She was a stellar employee all throughout her 3 decade career.    However, during the last 5 years in her job, she was a caregiver for her mother who had dementia.    She cared for her mother alone and willingly.    She notified her boss and superiors of this and they understood........well, in the beginning.
   
   Then she had to stay home more to care for her ever ailing mother.   The last boss did not understand and subsequently fired her on time and attendance issues.   Even though her work performance was above satisfactory, he maintained that her work performance was unsatisfactory.   
   
   This woman was severely crushed at first and sank in a deep depression.    She felt as if her whole world has ended.     However, she has moved on and is now doing freelancing and doing quite well.   
   
   There is a moral to this story,  you are just a cog to your respective company and/or corporation.   In other words, you are THERE to serve THEIR purposes and if THEY are displeased with you in ANY way(except it is discriminatory), OUT you go!     It does not matter if you are stellar employee or not, if you falter in any way, you are yesterday's news.     Did this happen to you or anyone you knew?

      You are so right.  In right to work states it's even worse. When my sister became sick with lupus she called me and asked me to come and live with her.  I sat down with my boss and explained the situation and he actually held my job for me for 3 months (which is unheard of these days).  When I realized I was going to be with my sister longer I let my boss know and gave up my position with the company. 
      
      It's not like that in todays world.  There is no gratitude for an employee being stellar and being with a company for 30 years. We are all disposable just like the cars they make now.  We are just a number to big companies and none of us are number one.  Sad.

         How are things supposed to be in business? I don't think some of you live in the real world. Your employer has invested money and time in you, they expect the payoff. Yes you are replaceable why shouldn't you be?

      To heck with whether they LIKE you or not....Corporations are ALL about the money.  Show them the bottom line.  That's it...the be all and end all.  True fact.

   The reply they give is - "It's business. You understand."  Been there so many times I feel the vibrations inbound!! Know a good number who have been knocked off their feet by such....."Nothing personal...just business."

   it's getting worse  - instead of temp employees - now there are 'microworkers' paid .08 dollar at AmazonTurk or ClickWorker - basically hiring you at 5 minutes at a time!
