Is it possible for me to disable photos from my account for mobile or tablet views? I have been looking at my Google Analytics and noticed that while the time spent on my articles averages approximately 7 minutes, my mobile views only average 55 seconds. If photos can be disabled it wouldn't take as long to load and may keep people reading a little longer on their mobile devices? Maybe I could only enable ads that have no pictures for mobile also???
There isn't a way to do this on the HubPages end; I think users would only be able to disable image loading from their mobile devices (somehow) individually. Sorry about that!
Disabling images on mobile devices is easy, especially if you get into some of the mobile-customized browsers. But given how many sites are going image-oriented for mobile users, I don't think ditching images is the solution.
HoneyBB, have you considered optimizing your layouts and images to serve your mobile readers better?
Relache, thanks for your insight. I think you make a good point. Most people have phones that can upload photos quickly. My phone is so old, I didn't even think of that. I have thought about photo optimization but I spend too much time trying to figure it all out. I just started school for Graphic Design today and I imagine that I will learn how to do all that as time goes on. I really appreciate your suggestions.
Agree, wish I could join you in graphic design. People are really into images and photos, would not suggest disabling. Perhaps updating phones is needed? Relache has some good suggestions, but as he said, you may want to consider the consequences.
teaches, I know...I just can't stand not knowing much about photos and design elements and web design. I'm sure it will help me a lot in my future articles. I plan to make some photos for my hubbers friends to use as soon as I get to know what I'm doing. I have a facebook fan page where I intend on placing these photos in an album (the one I have now is pathetic but I haven't put any time into the photos or taking quality photos; I just put it up to get it started) So in the future, I will send out a message letting people know when I have quality things up that they can use if they want to. Relache does have good suggestions. She knows her stuff.
Long story short.
Don't get concerned about image load times on mobile devices.

In looking over my edited hubs, I find many inconsistencies. Some hubs will be changed so that all large photos are seen (for mobile viewers?), others will be changed into thumbnails, others not changed at all. Some photos are moved above the text capsule, others below. What does HP now consider to...

I just realized that people are using full width images in their hubs again, even at the beginning. The team used to tell us NOT to do that because at the top of the article a photo makes a post take to long to load and also takes up space that should be given to advertisers and in the middle...

Apologies in advance for asking a question I should know the answer to, but I just can't keep track anymore, and the search function is not yielding any helpful results. When writing new hubs or updating old ones, is it now recommended to place photos and videos so they take up the full width of the...

We've just made a change to the site that will automatically disable ads on certain hubs that have been identified as having content that may not meet with the HubPages Terms of Use or with the Google AdSense Content Policies. The purpose of this is to protect both your and our relationship...
