It is so damaging to our online reputation and it totally messes up any traffic we have been getting. Wouldn't it be more constructive to simply give us 24 hours to correct any mistakes before unpublishing the hub for up to 72 hours!!!
We actually do that sometimes with less serious errors, but giving everyone a warning, as I understand it, would mean a lot more work for the (already strapped for time) moderation team.
The best thing is to be sure that our rules and policies are super clear up front- we do everything we can to have our filters warn people when their Hubs are at risk of being moderated. If you think there's an area in which we are lacking on that front, please do send me an email!
If you put all your eggs in one basket (like only write for HP), yes that would probably hurt a little. But if you sprinkle your work around online, here and there a bit, then you won't feel the pinch that bad if things like that happen. I had a hub unpublished once here. I was writing about airline security but they had issues with words and pics in the topic relating to the human body, because I was talking about forms of security - searching people and naked people in the airport as a form of protest, etc. After a bit of adjusting, they republished it but I ended up deleting it from here and republishing elsewhere, as it was originally written, because I wanted to be true to the message I was trying to share from both viewpoints on the topic. I didn't feel offended to be unpublished. I was just surprised about rules I was unaware of, since it was such a family friendly topic, IMO. It's fine with me if something gets unpublished - not preferred but fine, as in I can live with it and it doesn't upset me.
If I don't know a rule and someone kindly points it out but I have my article unpublished, it's just a learning experience and I carry on. If I am REALLY clueless about a rule (that has definitely happened more than once for me here), I ask around and hope someone more experienced, kinder, gentler, etc. will help me out a bit. People have been very nice in helping me when I've been clueless, lol... I definitely appreciate the people that try to help me correct my errors, as long as they are nice about. I hope they don't get too frustrated with my old brain not understanding them and their computer lingo sometimes and me repeating the same questions again and again... They seem to always be patient and understanding except for the haters, of course. Well, I just ignore the haters and their messages, like I didn't even see them. There are always going to be negative Nellies in life. I really enjoy the feedback of people who clearly know what they're talking about - even when I don't exactly understand their message to me, in their efforts to be helpful, hahaha.
The other side of it is there are so many places to publish and each place has their own rules, so I can see why each site has to be strict about their rules. It's important to follow the rules of a place, though.. When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Like I said, it's just a learning experience. I try to look at the positive in a situation like this, learn from it, and carry on.

One or two of my hubs have fallen victim to the "does not meet quality standards" empty bubble. In one case, I imagine it is because the hub falls under the "purely personal" category, better suited to a blog. That's fine. I can move it. (It's an older hub...

When you publish a hub, it is normally listed under hub activity and a notification is sent via email to all interested parties. Now, when you unpublish that hub, finish re-editing and then republish it (keeping the original title intact), will it appear in the hub activity? Also, will...

I just posted a bit ago a request for help on a hub that has been flagged over promotional. I just realized nobody can see the hub in question since the hubpages staff said to unpublish. How do you get someone with experience to look it over and help with it if they can't see it? It has been...

I'm thinking, when my lenses all pop over, to unpublish them and work them at my leisure. I just need to know if they will be deleted after a period of time in non-pub status.

I have a few hubs that I wrote about 10 years ago when I first started writing on hubpages that are not very good. They are pretty thin on content and get little or no traffic now. Some of them have even been unpublished due to lack of traffic or for quality. I am not disputing that they are not...

I have submitted and published an article and it has been featured. However, I unpublished it due to some mistakes. Then, I have rework and republished it. I thought it would recheck by the editor and wait for another two days, however, it didn't happen, instead, when I saw the article it's...
