What exactly do they mean when they say that, "again, links to well known resources like Wikipedia, news sites, will not be held to this same standard." When, or if, are we allowed to use more than two links to the same domain? Also, are they talking sub-domain or domain? Like, what is the differance between Abcnews.com, and Abcnews.go.com, for example? I gotta article I am working on, probably has more than 50 referances, and half of them are violations for numerous reasons. I gotta juggle through and figure all of this out. This is just one of the many issues going on with this current article.

Pretty much any major news site, educational site (.edu), or government site (.gov) is fine; sites like flickr are also all clear. We're really just referring to promotional links or sales links (so ABCNews.com is fine)

Typically, if the links are references and not promoting something, they're OK. big_smile

I know that links to different pages within a domain count.   I'm not clear whether links to different sub-domains would be a problem.  The only thing you can do is try it!

However, my immediate reaction is - I can't imagine any article needing 50 references, and if it did, as a reader I'd probably find it annoying to read.

If you're using multiple quotes from the same website, it's not necessary to hyperlink to each quote.  Instead, make a list of your references at the end of the Hub, hyperlink the main site name, then list the articles underneath that heading without linking.

If you have a blog, no more then 2 links to the same blog.  If you use a text link for affiliate program, no more then 2 links to same domain name.

If you have many references, to avoid problems you can list some. I do a lot of research on some articles but never have more than 7 links. I have never seen 50 links. You don't need a reference for everything unless you are quoting or referencing a photo that requires a link. Good luck.

Except when they're not. I think HP has loosened up about it now, but that two-link filter was fairly draconian when it was first instituted.

Simone, I left Hubpages for three years and removed my original set of educational hubs -- basically my TA notes for the seminars I'd taught converted into articles accessible by Jane Q. Public -- after they'd gotten over 100,000 visits, because all I got from HP in return was obscenity-laced comments from a few trolls (possibly all the same troll) and a lock on all my hubs after the "two links to the same domain" rule was instituted.

The two links in question were my photo credits links showing that I has permission to use the photos. My whole account was locked so I couldn't so much as edit a typo without my articles going back into locked mode and having to wait for a hand review.

I was posting college-level original essays on ancient Greek art and culture, yet that content was flagged as overly promotional, which as far as I knew meant "overly commercial." I didn't have time to figure out the new filters, because I was busy with grad school, so I left and moved my hubs to my blog and other sites.

The irony is that the move forced me to put nearly all my writing on a site where commercial content does well, so I finally gave in and learned how to write commercial pages. If not for HP's two-link filter telling me I was an overly commercial spammer, I'd probably still be posting nothing but purely non-commercial, educational content. So...thanks. wink

The 'acai' berries one is a classic - Hubs get violations when they make no reference to them and are unrelated. After getting approval for a bypass the warnings remain in place and any edit re-triggers the violation, and you have to do the approval process over again  - very Draconian!

Really?  I've got a hub that has shown a "duplicate" violation for a year now, along with a notation at the top of the hub that it has been checked by HP and is clear of any violation.  I've edited several times with no problems - wonder what the difference is?

          Its the topic and category.
I have a major review article about breast feeding (no images). Every time I edit it, the ads get disabled. I removed the RSS - ads were disabled, AGAIN - had to send another email to get them reinstated. It's war against the willing. Ho Hum!

Yes, I could see that, and with at least some reason.  You've undoubtedly used the word "breast" several times, which will trip the automatics and require attention from a person.  As giving a permanent "bye" to the hub would allow it to be edited into pornography it needs checked every time.  Unfortunate, but I can see the reason behind it, while my "duplicate" is a totally different problem and not something that editing will change.
