Just a marketing idea.. It seems that those who would enjoy being critiqued often might be the ones who have a harder time with the English language. I'm willing to bet that someone writing an article might even pay to have someone productively critique and give suggestions on proper usage.

An idea if you are trying to attract people to your church, use a course on english, I knew of a case in a church where that attracted a number of chinese people. Also in a Manhattan church, having worship in several different languages boosted their attendance (having african, russian, spanish, and american attendees).

That's an interesting idea.  I think you're right that it would be desirable for those for whom English is not a first language, and, IMO, it would be great for more experienced writers to help pass along their knowledge.  The problem I see for the site, though, is that in attempting to provide quality 'content,' they may lose searchers who come in looking for information because the article is difficult to read or understand because of the lack of the writer's skill in English.

The church idea is a great one also...when I still lived in Chicago, I lived in an area with a HUGE Polish population, as well as a sizeable Latino population.  There wasn't a church in the area that didn't offer services in English, Polish, and Spanish.

In my experience here, I know that a lot of folks still learning written English participate in our forums and get a lot of practice.  Sadly, most of us don't correct them or aid them as they go along.  I think they might stick around longer.

Motown is right - while it might be a great idea for non-english speaking writers to hone their english skills on HP, it isn't such a great idea for the site or other authors.

HP has gone, and is going, to a great deal of effort and cost to eliminate low quality hubs - filling the site with poor spelling and worse grammar doesn't fit very will with that goal.

I agree with you, Marisa! I think part of the problem we have had here with Google Panda has been caused by poor quality hubs written and posted by people who do not have a good command of the English language. In the past I used to make allowances for this but Google doesn't!
