How sad, I didn't know that.  Yikes, reminds me of my mortality all these people dying so young.  That's really a shame.  My kids love the big city sliders commercials- beg me to get one.

I don't know, but it has been one weird week.  I will miss Billy Mays and his wonderful ability to inspire parodies.

He was one of my heroes. That man could sell anything! I used to marvel at the way he put his infomercials and commercials together. He was an excellent closer.

Message for the men here on hubpages:  Authorities now think Billy Mays died from heart problems.

Did you know that if you are a male and you turn 50, you are at risk for a heart attack.  You don't need any other risk factors, you can be a non-smoker, a vegetarian, a health conscious work out 3 x a week kind of guy.  It doesn't matter, being Male and being 50 is all it takes.

I used to work in an ER and a doctor told me this.  Solution:  Have a stress test, get your cholesterol checked and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

I consider a good info-mercial almost an art form and I consider Billy Mays to be King of that genre.

And yeah, I always want to buy stuff, especially kitchen gadgets. yikes

Sorry, he only used to give me a headache. I would never have bought anything.

I am very sorry to hear that he died. You really never know when your time will be up.

The only thing they can think of what happened is that he was involved in some sort of plane accident on a tarmac.  The landing gear failed, tire popped or something and caused some of the overhead bins to spill their contents around.  Billy Mays was hit in the head and although he seemed fine, the next day he was found dead.  There will, of course, be an autopsy and we will surely know more, but it just goes to show you never know when you time is up.  I don't know about you, but I feel more grateful for the time I have.

In on living in the moment and enjoying my now.  I think that's all we really have.  We can live in the past or the future, but we can't control either and it's a waste of time.  We can live in someone else's past or future and I don't even know what to call that other than really ill, but then we would be missing our own now also.

I like my now.  Bravo to you ledefense, well put.

      Someone on digg had this:

"Billy Mays here for undiagnosed head trauma."

A little over the top even for black humor on the day of but Billy Mays had a great sense of humor.  I suspect he's up there laughing.

Sometimes black humor is the only type of humor that works.

We all have different ways on honoring different people.  Billy Mays will stay with me in countless imaginary parodies and in true appreciation of his wonderful good humor.

Now they are saying it was heart trouble that killed him.

Billy Mayes, why did not someone shut his big mouth up on all those commercials...... Hey, real, he supposingly had a head injury from a landing on a plane in Florida. Don't know specifics, though his injury was not mentioned on landing to airline officials. He got home, complained of not feeling well, and fell ill. Logic may be he suffered a head injury and result of a subdural hemorrhage, not cardiac arrest.

The autopsy on Billy Mays concluded that the cause of death was from heart disease, specifically, an enlarged heart.

The trauma that Billy Mays sustained on his bumpy landing at Tampa International Airport was not a contributory factor leading to his sudden death.

Thanks for the update.  I prefer to think God just took him because it was his time and that he's happily selling wings to angels in heaven rather than think that he died of improper medical care before his time.
