Franken was officially made the new Senator for Minnesota.

I think I'll go throw up now!

Not knowing your political views yet and living far away from MN, can't really tell what exactly got you that disappointed. smile

Why am I not surprised..?  Franken is just one more affirmation of the intellectual vacuity of the American electorate....everything is " American Idol " or a Mickey Mouse " Reality " show....Franken has the IQ of an ice cube....He will probably fit just fine with the " Most exclusive " club in The US...100 of our finest..?  I'll take the first 100 names from the Davenport, Iowa phone directory anytime....or name your phone book...

My political views actually have nothing to do with Franken, as quoted above, the guy does have the IQ of an ice cube.  I'm sick about the fact that this man is now representing our state.

With all respect to Maven and others, ice cubes don't get elected as Senators. A certain level of intellect and certain skills are required to get that high. smile

Based on audience of this thread I take it he is a democrat wink

Technically, at least he's called a democrat. Real democrats are human, this guy is fresh from the pit.

Certain kinds of conservatives, too.  Franken was a writer for Saturday Night Live and wrote a number of books, including "Rush Limbaugh is a Great Big Fat Idiot," basically using Limbaugh's 'style' against him.  (For that alone, I might think him brilliant.)

Also...among this crowd, the truth really isn't told often (of course we'll hear groans of "who cares about education, blah blah blah."  Doesn't matter--everything is partisan for these folks.  But here is Franken's early background--some will notice the "with honors" degree from Harvard:

Franken was born in New York City to Phoebe G. Kunst, a homemaker and real estate agent, and Joseph P. Franken, a printing salesman, and grew up in St. Louis Park, a suburb near Minneapolis.[4][5] Franken had a Jewish upbringing[6]. He is a cousin of MSNBC's Bob Franken,[7] and his older brother, Owen Franken, is a photojournalist. He graduated in 1969 from The Blake School, where he was on the wrestling team. He attended Harvard College and graduated cum laude in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science.

*btw, and I'm sorry, but it is 'Franken.'

Anyway, the real problem here is that this puts the Dems at the magic number of 60.

Just proves all the jokes about Minnesota are  true
The US Senate is a real joke now!
First they put in a liar in Roland Burris and now the biggest joke of them all Al Franken.  What the hell are people thinking?

He is not the first comedian to attain public office.  I don't know enough about the problems or the politics of that state to know if it is a good or a bad choice but let's see what he can do.  He can't be any dumber than the guy we finally got out of the White House.
