   Vaccinations given in these campaigns should always be given to informed patients or the children of informed patients and should be proven commercial products identical to those used in first world areas.
   
   That said, these campaigns are crucial in countries where children still suffer from tetanus and even polio.  These are horrific and preventable diseases.

      Would it not be  better to give them proper food, clean water and proper sanitation? Not having these basic essentials that we take for granted in the West, and the weakened immune system that results, makes them susceptible to all sorts of illnesses and viruses . ..   
      
      Which would you prefer - food and water or a jab in the arm?

            but they do not have both .. bill gates is giving them vaccines when they have little food, no clean drinking water, and no proper sanitation. as i said, if you had a choice, which would you prefer?

                  It is not a case of a bottle of water. It is a need for PROPER SANITATION! That means clean water to wash with and drink every day, proper toilets etc. These children in Africa don't have that basic human necessity.  Give them this first, and then lets see what happens to the incidence of disease . ..   
                  
                  There is much evidence that the best defence against polio and other diseases is proper sanitation, washing hands with soap and water etc . . there is also evidence that the decline in polio and other diseases is DUE TO sanitation improvements and not vaccines . . . .

                     BS. Polio disappeared in the US due to the Salk vaccine. People didn't all of a sudden have better sanitation and clean drinking water in the US.
                     
                     Sure, some illnesses and diseases can be avoided through clean drinking water and better sanitation, but not all of them.

                     Incorrect.  Many disease have vectors other than unreasonably sanitary conditions.  That is why I am vaccinated against measles, flu, rubella etc. They are communicable (person to person) diseases.

                        No it was correct.  Your initial reference was to polio,
                        "Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious viral disease, which mainly affects young children. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water". So it makes more sense to improve sanitation than to vaccinate.

                     While both UW and psycheskinner are right, the point is that vaccines can be provided, plumbing the continent of Africa for clean water and sanitation cannot.  Not by Bill Gates, not by the US, and not by the concerted efforts of the first world combined in any reasonable time frame to save children now living. 
                     
                     That process is a continuing effort and will take decades; in the meantime take the vaccine that will save lives.

                        Firstly, there are many solutions to provide the basic human necessity of clean water to drink and wash in, without resorting to the ludicrous exaggerations that you suggest . . .
                        
                        From the WHO website: With reference to Polio . . "Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious viral disease, which mainly affects young children. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water"
                        
                        As for vaccines, you take a HEALTHY child and inject them with a potentially toxic, untested cocktail of chemicals.  Remember this a HEALTHY child to start with.
                        
                        They many get protection from the disease, or they may not.
                        They may still get the disease, or they may not.
                        They may get become disabled or incapacitated in some way, or they may not.
                        They may even die, or they may not.
                        It is anyone’s guess.
                        In effect you are playing Russian roulette with the child's health.
                        
                        . . . and you can be sure that the doctors and manufacturers will give absolutely no guarantees that the vaccine they inject into you child’s veins, has been adequately tested and is safe. None.  . . vaccine manufacturers seek IMMUNITY from prosecution from the side-effects their vaccines may cause. Why?
                        
                        if you still want you vaccinate yourself and your family, then go ahead. You are in the privileged position of being able to educate yourself and make an informed decision, but in Africa, it seems, they are not.
                        They are vaccinated whether they like it or not, probably do not understand what the dangers are, and then are left to deal with any side effects without adequate medical supervision.

                                    For all the enormous wealth of natural resources that exist in Africa, how many nations are able to benefit? The wealth is siphoned off by the Multinationals, and little if any of the wealth is realised by the people.

               Other agencies deal with food aid.  I don't believe in looking the gift horse in the mouth. And I credit African parents with the ability to make choices about vaccines just like the rest of us do. This at least gives them the option.

                  This is no gift horse. African people are being vaccinated against  where necessary their wishes, and many are suffering severe side effects, but of course this is ignored by the "legitimate" media.

                  African people don't need "food aid", and they certainly dont need vaccines in preference to the basic essentials required to live a dignified human existence, like you and I take for granted. For all the millions or even billions Bill Gates is spending doing "Gods work" as he says, if the same amount was invested in empowering the people of Africa to help themselves, as genuine Humanitarion Agencies (NOT THE UN!!) do, then you would soon see a real difference. But then this is not the objectrive is it?
