Last week, I had parts of both menisci in my right knee removed. When the doc got a good look at the inside of my knee with the arthroscope, he found a large "crater" at the end of the interior "knob" of my femur. Meniscus surgery ain't gonna help that. Now he's talking about the possibility of knee replacement - total or partial. I'm extremely disappointed. I was really hoping the surgery last week was going to do the trick, like it did for my son-in-law. He was playing football just 2 weeks after his meniscus surgery. That's him in the pic below. He's the QB:
Have any of you guys had a partial knee replacement? Can you share your experience with me? Thanks!
My Mom had a total knee replacement. She is over eighty now. This happened about five years ago. In the begginnig it was tough for her to exercise it. If you dont do the exercises the knee wont fully work so yr leg does not straighten. My Dad was very insistant and in about a months time my Mom said it was worth it. I was around my Mom all the time this was going on and I saw a huge improvement with the new knee. Good luck with this. Hope I reasured you a little.
My gosh Habee - this is unbelievable! Both my brother (age 67) and my sister (72) had total knee replacements. They are so happy they had this done. Though it's no walk in the park, today they are pain free and able to do activities they couldn't do before the replacement.
Hang in there my friend - this will all be behind you soon and we will go dancing:)
Big hugs - Audrey
Hi habee-I don't know whether or not I've told you that I've had both of my hips replaced-one in '09, and the other last year. I've heard the knees are more complex, which makes sense, but I know lots of folks that have had their knees 'done' and are doing beautifully.
Take good care!
My sister in law has had both knees replaced very successfully . She said it was a great improvement on the old originals! Obviously there will be a period of recovery but it wasn't long before she was out and about. The only downside that I can see is that I have read they only last 10 years but you could ask your surgeon about it. Good luck.

Dang. We need to buy stock in our local hospital. Hubby got out of CCU just a couple of weeks ago, my son-in-law had to have an appendectomy last week, and two of my daughters are there now. One has been admitted for pyelonephritis, and the other has been in the ER for seven hours with severe...
