Thank you for sharing. I am too wishing that I can have all my featured Hubs on Google top. Pray for me.

      How are you checking that?

If it's on your own PC, bear in mind that Google keeps a record of what you do, and will try to return results tailored to you - even if you're not logged in (it uses your IP address).  So because you've been visiting HubPages, it's more likely to give you Hubs in your results.  And that applies in the same session, even if you turn of tracking

Also, what words are you typing in, to find those Hubs?   If it's the title of the Hub, then that doesn't mean much - most people will find they're on page 1 for the exact title.

What matters is whether you're on page one when a complete stranger searches for the subject.

I too am wishing you much success, but I do not believe you are seeing accurate data.

I made the same mistake when google first came out with their new search settings ( a while ago)

You must change your search settings as Wilderness suggested - or you will not see the same search results everyone else sees.

click the settings "gear" in the upper right corner of the search page.

      click search settings

scroll down and find the choice "do not use personal results" - click it

      scroll down and click save.

Now you will see the same search results everyone else sees - without this all search results will be geared to your search history and internet activity

for instance, I know it is not what you want to hear, but using your example "Health benefits of Black Seed" I did not find your article in the first 5 results pages - so it is somewhere lower than page 5, not page 1

ps. when this happened to me - I was doing a search related to a keyword phrase for campingwithgus.com - and was stunned to see I dominated almost the whole 1st page.

then - I changed my search settings as advised above, (to get real search results), and alas - no more 1st page for me.

Hope this was helpful, rather than discouraging

      GA

More bad news - even if you change your search settings, you still don't see what everyone else sees.  My understanding is that there's still a certain amount of tracking that happens based on your IP address and your browser search history.  That's why Scroogle was so useful - it was the one place where you could do a search anonymously and get a true, unbiased result.

Sorry dear but there is someting known as local search and global search results. To see the accurate SERP of your post open your browser and press CTRL+ALT+DEL button which will clear out your cache. Do remember to select "Since Beginning" or "Clear Everything" depending upon browser you use. Then try to search again and you'll get accurate seaqrch result posotion. I'd also recommend that you download google global extension for Firefox and Chrome to know your SERP in specific geographical location,

The other wat to do is to type in your address box nthis operator:
      google.com/search?q=Your+Keyword&gl=WW

Remember q is google operator for query and gl is for geographic location. Now you can search your keyword performance in specific country by changing gl as in UK for United Kingdom AE for UAE, DE for Germany or FR for France and so on. For complete list of gl extension you may visit my blog: http://trevelation.wordpress.com/2013/0 … aphic-loc/

Out of my 67 Hubs (66 of which are featured), I'm willing to wager less than 10 of them will appear on the first page of any Google search. Is it really so surprising when one isn't?

congrats for seeeing your 7 hubs on top of google, can you please tell how you are able to know which hub is featuring on which page in google. would be thankful to you for the reply

Just type your keywords on Google. You will get your article listed.

      Ex.
When I type "Health benefits of Black Seed" in Google.com ,  I can seed my article listed on  second position.

A good idea is also to tell google not to use your personal history in searches.  Otherwise it takes note of the fact that you have been to your hub recently and offers it as a high probability option.

Click the little gear near the upper right of a search screen, scroll down a ways and find where the option exists to remove your history from searches.

I have turned off Google search  but know it's tricky. If you also turn on private browsing in Firefox. Marissa, does that help?

From what I understand, it's just not possible to get a completely unbiased search result.  I don't understand all the ins and outs, but I do know that professional webmasters usually pay to use a SERP-checking tool - if there was a free, effective way to do it, I doubt they would bother to do that.

Having said that, a lot of the SERPS tools are being discontinued because Google has changed the rules about accessing and using their data.  It seems that the best way to check your ranking now is to look in Webmaster tools.

  11. Redmallard profile image59
    Redmallardposted 11 years ago

Congratulations on that. As for what other people are saying about the SERPS, it's true.
I'm not trying to promote anything, but if you google "SERP checker" there's a few free ones online you can use to check your results. You just paste in your link and you'll get it's rank. No need to clear your cache or anything like that.

    Have a nice day
