The great American 4th of July.  What are your plans to celebrate this great holiday?

    Jane

My partner and I are going to Austin, TX to visit my sister and her partner.  We are going to have a lot of bbq, a lot of margaritas, and a lot of dancing.

We are taking our camper out to the lake for the 4th.  Hopefully some friends will be joining us.  Plan on just relaxing, making s'mores, riding the atv, and drinking lots of wine.

My oldest daughter will be in Maine with her in-laws, my middle will be taking a romantic boat ride with her boyfriend, and my son works as a camp counselor during the summer, so he will be working. That means that I will be catching up on some gardening, hubbing and cleaning! The doggies and I will celebrate in the afternoon at the dog park.

I've never celebrated the 4th of July.

Got a little secret for you.  We're not really going for the 4th of July.  It's my birthday trip, a week early to take advantage of the extra day off for the holiday wink

I was actually due on the 4th, but my mother, being a good Canadian, refused to give birth on that day, and held out to the 12th just to prove a point.  Or so she tells it.

I'm sure there are plenty of Americans who have forgotton why the 4th is celebrated so you might fit right in from your country.

I'm grillin a big fat steak, drinking a few Rolling Rocks, spending time with my family and thanking God I'm an American.

We are going to the lake cabin.  I'm looking forward to watching the kids decorate the boat in red, white & blue and then watching the annual 4th of July boat parade.

I plan on doing a lot of photography, hoping I'll be down on the dock when the loons and their babies are on the lake.

And the most pleasant part of the weekend is sleeping in the cool northern Minnesota air filled with the wonderful smells that only a forest can bring!

My honey gets a three day weekend (yahoo!) so Friday we are heading to the big city of Spokane, mostly to see Cabela's for the first time!! We have our big city, once a month shopping to do, so we will be hitting all the 'big kid stores' too!  Saturday, puttering on the farm, begin building a "baby barn" for our two pg pygmy goats, ready to kid in late August... BBQ a must on Saturday and probably Sunday too.  Our little town has firework displays throughout the weekend, so we will catch a few of those too; best part of small town living, everything is close by....so to enjoy the fireworks, we just set up chairs on the front part of our property, kick back and enjoy...no traffic jams after the works for us!!!  Happy 4th everyone!!!

Well - nothing to do with July 4th celebrations - but I was supposed to going here: http://leaum.blogs.sapo.pt/arquivo/forte%20das%20berlengas%203.JPG
for a holiday. I'd have been cooking fish on the beach by the fourth. And now I'm not. I'm having to wait a week.

Which is great - I'm still getting to go. This is the only beach on the whole island ...
