Is it OK to click on ads of interest of other hubbers. I have never done that before because I'm afraid of being penalized by google since I have a google adsence account. Today I saw a great ad on someones hub for a free coupon offer for Tide Pods but was afraid to click on it.

    Thanks,
    Creativelycc

I don't know, because I've seen announcements both Yes and No, but I clicked accidentally in the right margin (mouse awry) on my own ads and received a warning from google, so I'm not clicking. BUT, maybe you can Google search "Tide Pod Coupons" - I think that should work.

I think that will be safer way to get the coupon Patty, I don't want to take any chances. Thank you!

This is something I would like to know because I almost bought a book from Amazon off of some else's Hub but I did not know if I should.

Amazon clicks and purchases are not a problem.  Just clicking an Adsense ad.

      No...

And "rewarding" others is what gets sites completely banned from Adsense.

If you see a product you are interested in you can right click it and copy the url. Or Google it.

A while back Paul Edmondson stated that other members should not click each other member's Adsense ads.

I don't click. I'm always worried to click on anything on mine or on hubs of others.

Since you and Patty feel that way too, I better trust my instincts and not click on other hubbers ads. Thank you very much moonlake!

Imagine how many people have tried to fiddle Adsense over the years?

    Google are very tough.

If YOU click on someone's ads and THEY, whether by accident or design click on yours... no more adsense for either of you.

So clicking on someone's ads risks their account AND yours.

And for anyone thinking if A clicks on B and B clicks on C and C clicks on A... we all get rich.

    No.  You all get banned.

Best thing imo is NEVER to click on anyone's ads - whether in HP or outside.  Go to Amazon for Crissakes and ignore the spam.

Other hub-writers are also potential customers. So, yes you can follow the advertisement. Keep in mind that almost all ads are targeted individually on each person's interest, they are based on the history of your google search and previous visited sites, might be through  IP and Mac address. It means any place you visit, google will show you ads that are targeted for you. If we were not allowed to click on ads we like, hubpage developers would block them all from clicking as they blocked our own.

And Mark if we never click on any ad we are interested in, especially on those outside of hubpages, why should any other person click on yours?

Indeed, they might declare a click "fake".  But a purchase is a purchase.

Oh my word, I have clicked on ads before b/c I was interested. Now Im going to be kicked off of hub pages never to return! Oh the humanity!

I asked  HubPages staff person about this once, who said that it would be okay on occasion if it was in good faith. I wouldn't mind having that confirmed again, to be sure, but that was what I was told.

Well I'm sure glad you asked this question! Lol. I had no idea and was just clicking away innocently on stuff I was interested in. Yikes! I'll be leery of that now!

It seems completely illogical to discourage people from clicking on ads in other people's hubs.
Any community relies on support from other community members to be sustainable. What good does it do your local shopkeepers if they have to wait for buyers from interstate because they're not allowed to sell to people who live down the road? What help is it to the US economy if you make every other American buy all their goods from China?
This type of advice could quickly spell the doom of any community, including HP I would imagine. Suddenly there is no point encouraging new members to join, if the only way you can make money from their interest in your hub is when they are non-members.
Similarly, what's the point in even being on HP? If we write hubs that generate interest, wouldn't we all be better placed on our own websites to that the many HP members who can't buy from us here, can buy from us there?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I have always been under the impression that you mustn't click on your own ads ... but it is AOK to click on somebody else's. I would much rather reward a hubber when the time comes to spend money than reward a complete stranger via google, when the sales pitch was executed so effectively by my fellow hubber.
It doesn't make sense to not click, does it?

The point is to get people from Google to find your hubs, you do not make money from HP members.

        Ebay and Amazon sales?

        1. Susana S profile image94

In my nearly 4 years at Hubpages I must have made a whopping 5 amazon sales from hubbers, which accounts for about 0.00000001% of my total sales, if that. Forget it! It really is pointless (and risky when it comes to adsense) to try to earn from other hubbers.

Focus your energies on earning from external traffic. And if you want to reward or support other hubbers share their hubs on your social networks, give them a link back from your blog, hub, lense or whatever - that will help them much more in both the long and short term than ad clicks ever will.

Thanks for the tip, Susana S. I'll take your advice because you've been here long enough to know how it all works. smile

I will feel guilty though, when I buy a product from somewhere else. sad

I believe that you are only penalized by Google AdSense if you click on your OWN ads. If you click on ads in other writers' hubs it shouldn't adversely affect you at all, because those ads contain the other writers' promo codes, so no strikes against you.

  12. brakel2 profile image73
    brakel2posted 11 years ago

That is not the case. You are prohibited from clicking on yours or any other ads. You may occasionally make a mistake as we all do. A hubber' lost Adsense when a friend kept clicking on his ads.

I have Adblocker which blocks all kinds of ads. I don't even see the ads.

Well I believe if you like some ads to visit and know what is it, it is not the violations of Google terms.

This is a much more recent statement from Paul Edmondson (one of the owners of Hubpages) saying that clicking on other people's adsense ads on Hubpages is a "big no no".

      http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/67737#post1483104

You can't get any clearer than that!

Also, I don't think google adsense have any guidance available about adsense clicks by users on multi user content sites because I'm sure I would have seen it by now - can you link to any?

  15. LongTimeMother profile image92
    LongTimeMotherposted 11 years ago

Maybe the reason it is a big no has to do with the fact that we are all part of hubpages dot com, with individual 'pages' within the one site. Therefore, clicking on another hubbers page would be like clicking on one of your own pages on a smaller website ... thus giving the impression that you are clicking on 'your own' ad.
    That would make sense.

Good question, I've always wondered. I'm never actually clicked, for the same fears everyone else has. Glad I didn't. Thanks for the info everyone!
