I am trying out both Verizon and AT&T Wi-Fi and the speed of the internet is awesome with both.
1.Verizon-3G speed approx. $70ish a month with 6GB data usage ($15 overage charge)
a. can upgrade data to 8 ($10 more) or 10 GB ($20 more).
b. 2-yr contract, but can upgrade data package without changing contract
c. Plans in the work for 4G speed with new antenna from Verizon to be added to area soon and price is only $60 for 10 GB!
2. AT&T-3G speed approx. $60 a month with 5GB data ($10 overage charge)
a. can upgrade to 10 GB, but at $90 a month.
b. No plans for 4G coming
Have always had better coverage with AT&T on phone service. Verizon cell phone are not as reliable for not dropping calls in this area.
Trying to decide which to keep and which to drop before the 14 day deadline. Verizon deadline is end of today. AT&T has a few more days.
Any suggestions, experience with each of these in broadband internet service?
My Verizon seems to use more data than my AT&T when online. Have tried to do the same type of online browsing with both to compare.
I've got Verizon broadband for only $20/month. They saw you coming... Sorry.
LOL, it was the only plan available here. It was that or the 35 dollar AOL dial-up, which I had.
And to add...I have the mobile Wi-Fi pack. I am sure that is why it cost more.
TO ALL!!!
Low-Income Broadband Pilot Program

I didn't see Arkansas on their map! lol, typical of this State.
Oh, well. Maybe it will help someone else.
As for your location, looks like good old Verizon and ATT are doing the monopoly thing on you guys. Corporate greed just plain never stops...
That is the truth! There is a monopoly here.
I just had a flashback to an old provider that served me well.
http://www.intergate.com/
Check them out to see if your area is covered. There may even be an FCC regulation that requires Verizon/ATT to provide the infrastructure to intergate at reduced cost.
I probably make too much a year to be eligible though.
This doesn't have to do with the low-income program. And that suspected FCC regulation doesn't have anything to do with the low-income program either. If Intergate has DSL coverage in your area, then you are in business.
DSL is not available here. AT&T owns all the lines here.
