Wal-Mart has a problem with not-so-fresh groceries
By Aimee Picchi
On top of empty shelves and long checkout lines, the giant retailer is also struggling with expired produce and other goods.
Its been widely reported that Walmart doesn't have enough employees to stock the shelves. I don't know if its a cost cutting measure or they can't get employees.
I have noticed less than fresh food in the produce and the meats have expired dates. Some bloggers have found expired stickers covered up as well. How have your experiences with Walmart groceries been?

It's rare that we buy meat or product from Wal-mart. It has never looked fresh to us. That curly hamburger they have is awful.
Knowing that they cut corners in all ways possible to maximize profits the way they do, there's no way I'm going to buy perishable food from them. I thought I was safe buying a stick of pepperoni around the holidays - got it home and noticed it was several months out of date. Back it went.
With all their automated computer driven processes, I don't buy into the idea that they don't know their stock is sitting expired on the shelf. Seems they'd rather sell it to the unsuspecting than pay their employees to mark it down just prior to the sell by date or remove it from the shelf.
I will not shot at WalMart. I prefer local businesses and their food is probably full of GMO
's.
It does not speak well for a company like Walmart selling expired products, to the extent covering the expire date sticker just to deceive their unawared customers. I think the government should respond to this.
I'd be happy to work as a stocker at Walmart, but nooooooooo, they just ignored my applications since my contract expired back in January.
When it comes to groceries, I gave up on Wal-Mart years ago. Looks like my decision is still the correct one...

November 18, 2013 | Wal-Mart doesn’t pay its employees enough of a wage so that they can afford to buy quality food for Thanksgiving. So one store in Cleveland had a novel idea: launch a food drive for its own employees. It’s targeted at the low-wage workers who could afford to...

We are talking about Wal-Mart at school right now and there are two sides to this story. The bad side is how Wal-Mart is moving all of their manufacturing jobs over seas which ends up having a negative effect here in America. But also, Americans are getting rock bottom prices on most goods Wal-Mart...

Hubpages might take the link down on this page, but this hub contains the main concept I want to discuss: <link snipped>Basically, we need to demand that the big corporations like McDonalds and Wal•Mart pay their employees a respectable wage. These companies are absolutely filthy rich, and...

I was just doing a little study on Walmart, as I was updating my Boyfriend Gift Ideas blog, and found out that many companies went bankrupt because of Walmart. As I am in a country, Singapore, which does not seem to have direct influence from Walmart, I want to ask how it has been for you, and your...

What makes for a successful trip to Wal-Mart?Is it to get in and out as quickly as possible? Or, is taking your time and saving some money the best way? OORRR, is the only successful trip the one that ends up not being made?
