I was working on an edit on my Pityriasis Tinea Versicolor hub and when I was done with the edit, the page appeared in a messed up format. ( I checked signed in and signed out)
I viewed the page in IE9 and the hub was correct. I also deleted cookies, history and cache and checked again before posting here.
I am adding an image of both.
Google Chrome:
IE9:
This could look especially bad to viewers of the hub as well as to Google.
Made more edits to the hub. Had to relocate the text capsule to fix the weird format in Google Chrome. Seems HP is acting weird tonight. Have had pages slow and even had to load a picture twice to get it to show up in a hub.
Sorry for the trouble, Michael Willis. I'm assuming you just shortened the divider?
I moved the text capsule itself and left the divider. (Note: The dead space is back!) I also moved the Quix capsule up close to the front of the hub. Hoping I get more results with it here.
@Michael Willis
Sorry to hear about the problems you encountered.
It sounds like the issue has since been resolved.
If you are continuing to have issues, please let us know and we will do additional research.
Matthew;
I just checked in IE9 and it looks good. I also checked in Google Chrome and the dead space is back!
I re-opened Google Chrome and went into Edit mode. I shortened 2 underscore spaces from the divider and it worked.
Google Chrome must display the hubs differently than IE or Firefox. I have not had this issue with these two, just Google Chrome.
Glad you got the formatting resolved for your Hub.
I documented the differences in Opera, Chrome, Internet Explorer 9 and 10, and Firefox and have forwarded them to our engineering team.
It certainly appears like there is some difference amongst browsers, so hopefully we can get that addressed.
Thanks for bringing the issue to our attention and your continued patience!
You are welcome. I always try to see if I can resolve it on my end first before posting. Thanks for you (and Simone) helping out.
Michael, Thanks for bringing this up. I've had this problem for ages and just thought Hubpages worked that way. Of course I use Chrome.
I did not notice it until I downloaded Chrome. I had always used IE and FF.
@Michael
I heard back from our engineers.
The underlying issue is the use of underscore characters to make a divider, which we do not advise.
You can't rely on fonts to appear identically for multiple browser/OS combinations.
Generally, we advise not using dividers as Hubs without them are visually more appealing.
We strongly recommend Hubs not use dividers, but using an image instead of text would provide more consistent formatting across browsers.
When using the Photo Capsule for a divider, make sure your image is shorter than 150 pixels (or narrower horizontally than 200 pixels). Otherwise, it will inevitably display as part of a slideshow (regardless of your intent).

Using Firefox, they are OK, but in Chrome this is what a Topic page looks like right now:None of the Hubs show until you get to the very bottom, past the ad on the left:Google wants to see lots of content above-the-fold, not just links and ads. (Chrome is Google.)

Whitney I noticed reported the same problem about 3 months ago. I haven't checked in a while, but last time I looked internet explorer was still the dominant OS. I know it didn't used to do this. Is the awkward-looking non-text wrapping page what IE users will see? If so that is really limiting our...

Internet Explorer is no problem but I can't edit any hub in Chrome at the moment.

"Techo" Matt,This has been happening for some time on all of my hubs.When I open a Text Capsule and copy and paste content in, it does not show the text until I hit Save. EXAMPLE:I published a poetry hub today and had the title in the content I pasted into the text...

I couldn't quite believe the recommended hubs shown at the bottom of one of my literature hubs - How to Shave Your Butt together with Sebaceous Pimples/Boil Removal again showing what is I think a sickly photo of a butt. Perhaps the joined up thinking is that once a reader has finished with a...
